*A topic NOT about CVs* Alternate Soviet Cruiser Line: Possible?

Hey folks,

So I have been off the game a while. Burned myself out and then stayed away until the CV boohoo(no offense intended) died down. Recently, I've been busy evaluating my Cruiser options and, though I had a blast playing the Soviet Cruiser line, I can't help but feel Moskva might not be the way to go in the current meta. The fact that most of the game-play revolves around reversing and forwarding while baiting potatoes to fire at your 50mm Armor Belt might have worked before the CV rework but now that I have seen the current meta, I feel staying stationary is pretty much asking for a death sentence especially given the wonky AA suite the Moskva has. That being said, here is my question to ship enthusiasts in particular: Is their any chance the Soviets actually had plans for additional cruisers that were more mobile rather than being floating fortresses? Something that was more open water friendly. If I tried doing WASD hax in a Moskva, with a citadel that is visible from the moon, I believe it would be a very quick and an expensive return to the port.

To be honest I'm actually mulling over starting a whole new cruiser nation but I already have a 17 point Soviet captain and if it's at all possible that Russians might get new cruisers down the line, I'd rather continue working on my CVs/DDs and not start going after Zao or Hindenburg or else I fear I might end up burning myself out again.

So, what do you folks think? Is it possible? probable? feasible? credible?  Or is it just a pipe dream and I might as well let go of false hopes and face the truth.

Whatever your posts, thanks for your opinions in advance.

Regards,
LonerPrime

I'm clearly not a guy whom experienced on this, but it is possible, probably.

We are talking about Soviets ships anyway. Wargaming has always favor the USSR.

Soviet cruiser line is kinda a mix, you have light cruisers, pre heavy cruser (Donskoi) and a heavy cruiser.  If they want to add an another cruiser line, they should separate heavies from lights just like the US cruisers. I'm pretty sure USSR has alot of planned ships after the war and WG only have to dig em up.

Surely they'd be better served producing ships that actually existed?

How about an Italian cruiser line first...

Of course there would be a Russian cruiser split.

All WWII German, Japanese and Italian ships can be potential Soviet ships also. As the soviet may captured the real ship or their plans. Alternatively, They could have imaginary lend lease ship the allied countries as well.

Those would probably fit premium status better since each nation has a different design philosophy.

Anyway , if long range pew pew is his need , then Henri , Hinden and Zao all serve the purpose well. And both Henri and Hinden can be AA specced to farm planes.

If you want to keep moving because you can't bow tank then just play Dimitri Donskoi, since thats its playstyle, long range kiting

The Soviet line is weird. Because Kirov, Dimertri Donskoi, And Moskva are kinda standouts, you cannot really carry a captain up the line, at least not with the higher tiers.

From Kirov there are 3 gun sizes: 152, 180 and of course, 220. IRL gun sizes like 152-180 may have similar performances, but in this game, overmatching and HE pen rule exist.

The line (premiums included) doesn't even have 203 mm guns!!! WeeGee may create a line with 203 mm guns!!!

If there is a split, pick your gun sizes. I did with the German DD split proposal.

We have 2 ships that fit this context. Murmansk (formerly USS Milwaukee that was leased to the Soviets in 1944) & Admiral Makarov (formerly Nurnberg that was ceded to the Soviets in the end of WW2 as a war reparation).

Soviet Ships don't have a-lot of lines. Let alone some Loaned Ships like Arkhangelsk aka HMS Royal Sovereign.

German GZ was captured by the soviet, and GC was handed over the soviet too.. and all the German paper ships' plan may have fallen into the hand of the Red Army

The Soviets literally had their version of Black Friday in the end of WW2. Fortunately they did not capture Admiral Hipper (too broken anyway), and Prinz Eugen. The Soviet Navy might have modernized quickly if they earned those state-of-the-art cruisers.
