old CV/new CV

 

spotting

highly consistent spotting over a area, but will sacrifice mg output heavily  /

can spot a area well while maintaining very strong damage output

 

damage

less consistent strike but has the ability to one shot almost everything given the right conditions  /

very consistent strikes over a longer period of time, but multiple strikes allows for more room for error, and as bonus can stack DOT even heavier than ever before

 

hanger 

limited hanger, need to conserve planes heavily  /

unlimited hanger but longer recycle times

 

against AA

losing planes per squad means high loss of strike potential per strike  /

losing planes does not matter since you have reserves in the air, lowers strike number, which aloe lowers strike

I prefer the new one simply because it is easy to learn and quite fun but at the same time very challanging to have an impact on the game...New CV made me play them and I have even managed to reach T10, which is definitely a huge improvement compared to what it was before.:Smile_honoring:

I prefer the RTS system and still think WG should have put in at least some effort into fixing it.

But the new CVs are objectively a lot better.

New CV most annoying thing was constant harasment. Death by thousand cut as Desainer call it,its actualy the most misserable things they subject the player to.  

the same reason fire is annoying for many player, despite its actual damage is not that effective. but being subject to DOT is one of the most unpleasant gaming experience - and new CV adhere to the similiar philosophy

that what makes them unhappy

IMO The new CV gameplay were fine, but the mechanic surrounding it was not (the mechanics of Def AA, Sector reinforcement, Flak, non existent interaction betwen CV from opposite side was the one that biggest bummer)

I hated the old RTS high alpha CV.   I do like the new ones but can certainly see why they are hated by the majority of the community.

 

I picked the new one as a personal choice which does not reflect whether it is better for the game or not.

Exactly the opposite...

If you play CVs past T8, you'll quickly realise that if your team potatoes hard, there is no way to recover...same as with any other ship. CVs dont have that map-wide dominance anymore..

I think the old style could be more influential to the game but overall it wasn't because there were such a disparity in players.  The new CV's have certainly changed the ability of players to influence a game.

The old style relied on total map control while the new style is all about using your multiple planes with harass small areas of the map.

Think what you like, Ive seen it enough time's in battle to know the truth.

The team with the better CV mostly wins, period.

Didn't like the old version mostly due to the Saipan's strafe exploit. I missed pressing 1 to control the cv though

It seems you have vague understanding about how CVs work now... they no longer influence one another...no more fighter squads to screw up drops. So, there is little you can do to hinder the other player's approaches. Unless the other guy is a complete potato, he will be able to have similar impact as you'll be

Command and Conquer version. You could at least salvage your team if you played hard.

That one could have been easily fixed but they didn't want to.

The point is the old system worked and could be improved by tweaking things here and there.

Old system: losing all 6 haku bomber flights at one go: WTF, then go back immediately to waiting for your next flights.

New system: play avoid the flak and still lose your entire flight. Go meh and resume.

The old one was much more unforgiving towards plane losses. Not only did you lose the fight, you had to wait for them to respawn and if you lost multiple flights, you had to chain them properly to take off.

You actually started it there sweetpea. I actually think CV's IRL are an amazing thing. In this game tho, yes I hate them. Been through this before....

There must be an awful lot of "oddballs" here and on other forums including a couple of THE most popular CC's since there are so so so many threads about hating CV's.

I think perhaps YOU in fact are the ODDBALL because you cant accept that MOST of the player base DO NOT enjoy the CV meta either before or after the rework.

Incidentally I can read fine, used to read extensively (even read most of Game Of Thrones before it became a series).

RTS CV is a big NO-NO for many reason that everyone knows it.

only good thing RTS CV have is very few people playing it and rarely find them in high tier.

new CV... at very least it have only one squadron

but it's speed and multiple attack run + unlimited plane reserve is more than make up for it.

it happen very so often, only 30sec into match and nice chunk of HP been shave off by CV strike.
