So I have 1,4 mil free xp and I'm in dire need of Cred. I'm also a staunch German ship main and of course, wanting to save free xp for whatever (and more importantly, WHENEVER) a German free xp ship comes. 

A dilemma...

Unless you mean using Alaska for the free xp and Cred?

Spend the million now.

You only play randoms and ops, so you should make it back up in time for a german free xp ship release.......

(It takes a hell of a lot longer just playing Co-op...)

Do you like US BB's?  Are you happy to sail BB's that require good angling?  Are you adept at using low-calibre BB AP (eg Lyon, Alsace) to do effective damage, and enjoy the positives and negatives of this?

Well then you'll like Alaska.  If you answer no to the above questions, chances are you won't like Alaska.

As for saving for a KM free xp ship - you'll have PLENTY of time to do that, given there are none announced, and unlikely to be any released this year.

As for Alaska unless you are American and have sentimental attachments to the ship, I don't see the point.

A T9 cruiser like Asuka [edit: Azuma (sorry!)] or Alaska is going to have to be balanced against ships like Ibuki and Roon. If a T9 cruiser is introduced with way bigger guns than Ibuki, something else has to a lot worse than Ibuki: dispersion, range, sigma, RoF, armor, speed or maneuverability. You end up with a cruiser with most of the things that make a cruiser good removed, but without many of the things that make a battleship viable. So big, good guns without endurance (Azuma) or whatever nerf-bat Alaska is going to get hit with relative to Buffalo...

First of all, what is Asuka?

Man's got a deadly sense of humor he makes me want to cry sometimes.

Here's the thing: if I get Alaska, she may solve my cred and free xp problem (Salem doesn't even have a premium credit multiplier). May, that is. But then it's ~500k free xp for any next ship. 500k!!!

Depends on how fast you can save up 600,000k free xp for the next free xp ship, otherwise I would say just get the Alaska or the Azuma.

It usually takes quite a while from a ship being announced to it entering the game. And since there is no news now about a German free xp ship, you can safely assume that one will not be coming anytime soon.
