Hai

I was in this game and my friend was able to triple-cit the French tx with the charles martel from 13km, and I can honestly say I was surprised about that . I rarely could get any citadel with my gk or yama . Yeah british bb I manage to get 25-30k penetration dmg.

Your inputs are greatly appreciated .

Thank you !

Usually, French BBs have low HP and weak citadel plating compared to other BBs of their tier. A well-aimed salvo could knock it off the surface.

You can citadel most french BB by staying at range so your shots will curve down and hit at a relatively high angle. For US cruisers , it'll be around 10-12km; for flatter arc cruisers you'll need to stay at near max range almost exclusively to have a chance of landing that shot. For French sped boat , 14km seem to be the ideal mark , any further and your penetration power reduce significantly.

Although french BB have turtle back , its turtle plate is fairly thin , without angling , it is quite weak.

I'd be surprised if you weren't.  Their Breadnaughts fed thousands in the seas back then. Even their own allies tried to take a bite out of them because they were too délicieux to resist.

You just need to have sufficient penetration power so that the spaced armor cannot stop the shells on the way. Even french BBs can be citadelled like most other normal ships. Although you will need very big guns and heavy shells.

Charles Martel landing a triple cit on a Repub at 13km?  I think the WG hamsters powering the computers that run the penetration calculations were on a hunger vodka strike :Smile-_tongue:

Seriously though as @legionary2099 said, it is the plunging fire from longer range that is the French BB weakness. French BB have weak turtle back slopes and weak citadel roof plating. They are quite vulnerable to AP in certain situations. Different cruisers will need to find this ideal range to get the angle of the fall of shell to be just right to do this. Varying shell velocities and air drag on shells will change this ideal range for different ships.

Here is a Flamu video where he had a training room set up with a Des Moines showing just how weak Repub armour is to plunging 203mm AP shells. Caution contains Language.

I think some of you have been misinterpreting the term "plunging" fire in this thread (in regards to WoWS).

If something is plunging , it is putting holes into pixels *no pun intended* cough cough

meaning, PLUNGING:

denoting a very low-cut neckline on a woman's garment.
"form-fitting dresses with plunging necklines"   :Smile_veryhappy:

Shoot long, stiff bread sticks at them, they're usually hard enough to penetrate anything.
