How to deal with unsupportive teammates?

I've seen many of my teammates are unsupportive. Primarily, cruisers. I found some of them are a bit ignorant with their teams or their own ships. For example, a player was using a Des Moines. However that player didn't use the radar or hydro. I already reminded them through chat. But they are still didn't responed me. So then, my friendly DD decided to checked the cap and yes there are enemy DD in the cap. And he killed it.

Now the job of a cruiser with their friendly BB is important. When a BB is detected or a cap is randomly taken by the enemy, it's the cruisers job to pop radar and banish the DD but some players out there are ignorant with their ships ability. Cruisers primarily, has so many advantage against BB. Now I know I should stick to CA, or CL. But what is the purpose of protecting them if they are ignorant in the battle anyway? -_-

I am inclined to believe this is not a really serious question....

How to deal with unsupportive teammates?

I'll give the same answer as to when are we going to get super containers...

As I have been playing on NA recently, I realized one thing though, a bit unsupportive teammates are better than the over supportive ones that you find in other servers.

Well here's a few ideas that can be immediately thrown in the bin:

1. Perhaps play with an awareness of the language diversity on our server and don't assume that everyone can speak, read and write English just because you (whoever) can? Lower your/our expectations of team work accordingly.

"But they should know how to play", I hear screamed back at me.

2. Appreciate that some of the players are kids. Little kids. That mistake a game for being a place to play and have fun. Be aware that other players have different reasons for being here and some don't necessarily appreciate or understand that low skilled or laid back play might be better played in Co-op. Try to relax and learn tolerance.

Finally: 3. Let's stop characterising other people as 'tards', selfish, monkeys, dogs, etc., etc., etc., ad nauseum and judging people based on racist stereotypes, so that when those players that disappoint and appall our elitist community eventually discover that they can come to this forum to learn how to improve their game, that they don't leave again in haste (never to return) when confronted with the depth and breadth of elitist, prejudicial, bigoted and intolerant attitudes all too frequently tolerated here. If they are driven away from here, we've only got ourselves to blame when they continue to play 'badly'.

I myself regularly wish I never had to read between the piles of negative dross I find here all too often, but then I'd have no access to the many intelligent and insightful nuggets that get intermittently shared here by you all.

Anyway, I return this channel to negativity and the running down of other players now. Cheers :crab:

Which is bad news for Australians, who are often generous by nature (well, some are).

See, we keep giving China stuff, because we think we’re mates. But China just takes it and says ‘any more?’ :cap_haloween:

Mostly, I assume allies will always be unhelpful, and if you want help, you need to put yourself in a position where they accidentally help you, or helping you just happens to be an unexpected result of what they were going to do anyway.

Which is why I hate when WG makes major changes in mechanics, and say that the counter is “use allies for support”

Just ask nicely and honestly... as long as it's feasible for the other person, they usually follow it as long as they don't need to go out of their way.

Works for me anyway. They may not do it the way you want sometimes, they can fail and etc. etc... but it's still an option to keep in mind.

"Hey pensa, you are going to die alone if you go that way"

"Hey gamer_x_123, in the Pensacola, no one else is going that way, you will die alone needlessly over there"

"PENSACOLA STOP NOW ONLY 1 ENEMY DD HAS GONE THIS FLANK AND THERE ARE 3 ON ENEMY TEAM"

A few moments later...

*Pensacola gets devo struck by torps*

How do you "deal" with this?

HOW DO YOU DEAL WITH THIS?

well , let's just say being a primarily DD players I am seeing un-supportive teammates all the time, cruisers and BB alike, all they want to do mostly is hide behind islands, get poke shoot at slow enemy BB and generally all they do is not get into any real fight ; any sign of fire and they are the first to be gone, its daily affair, anytime I see someone like that I expect a defeat coming my way. There is not much one can do if some teammate just refuse to play as a team. And my take is if they do not support me then I do not support them, believe me there is so may time these guys would scream for someone to help when their inaction ultimately materialize in enemy pushing through and their position compromised. To those like that I politely reply " sorry guys, you are on your own "

In fact being un-supportive is not even the worst, I've seen even far worse. Playing DD I cannot tell yo how may time a BB or a cruiser hide behind islands fully aware they cannot even fire upon enemy nor support anyone up front and yet they keep asking DD to go cap and yet the themselves sail backward ... or the run away from enemy when incoming are around to take home base and yet keep asking the fast DD to go back in , you can picture such similar.  They know full well thee's danger in engaging but knowing it need to be done so they keep asking others to go yet they run away from it ...

The way to deal is to consider that 6 of your team-mates are as skilled as bots. So, you cannot instruct them. You have 5 left to work with and they usually respond to sensible requests (as Suzy mentioned above), as you should too if they request something sensibly. And you bring you division so, 3 of you on one flank, and 3 others on the other......

Things go south pretty fast if one flank only gets bot-level players.

Playing in a division also has other benefits, like you rant among your divmates, so you don't splash salt over everyone....

Its pointless to over-think the situation, especially relating players to real life people. Its a 15 minutes battle, there is no time to think why people leave the game early and what's not.

Didn't we have this conversation before? I remember people in the forum pointed out that you play DDs completely wrong, if I'm not mistaken. I mean, anyone who expects cruisers to go out in the open behind a DD does not know how to play the game 😛

It's funny to see it did not change your perspective.... Talk about handling unsupportive players :Smile_trollface:

For me, yeah, I sometimes tell DDs to go back in, but I just type "DD, cap X is free of danger". See? passive suggestion. Usually works, as long as you don't appear in a DD.
