Emile usually does more damage, but a lot of that is from fires. I'd venture that Furutaka post buff and Emile post nerf are now in a fairly similar space. Can't speak for Omaha ... we never clicked.

~55k on gunnery alone with 6 citadels (& 1st in team XP + win) isn't a bad T4-5 game by any measure, but putting that aside and looking at the result as just quick check of the buff: It's definitely noticeable as a pleasant lift. More hits more often, more pens and citadels. I wouldn't say it's night and day, but it is significant. Furutaka's increased threat potential against DDs and lower tier CAs at range is particularly welcome.

Still does not come close to the effectiveness of light cruisers. The buff wasn't enough in my opinion 😄

But I guess Heavy cruisers are at a little backfoot when it comes to damage dealing since they can make that up with tankyness? (if there is such a thing for cruisers).

Oh, that hurts! Yes the IJN CA line has tankyness, though like all regular cruisers it's a binary thing: you are very tanky until you are not very tanky at all. I think Aoba and Furutaka are tier-for-tier more well armored than the T7-9 ships however.

Hey I'll review Furutaka to anyone, anytime...

Further thoughts on the 7.11 buff:

Wargaming did good. This was exactly what was needed. They way to think of the 10-20% dispersion reduction is like this: The damage Furutaka could do previously at 10 km she can now do at 11-12 km. The damage Ibuki could do at 15 km she can now to at 17-18 km - assuming you slot the range module. Distance is of course life for the IJN CA line, just a couple of km makes all the difference in terms of incoming shell transit times and your ability to dodge them. The buff means you can now stay in a zone of relative comfort and still deal effective damage whereas before you were constantly having to put the ship in severe danger just to be able to make any kind of battle contribution.

Yeah I heard about that. 33% more shells in the air, and Aoba range, but reduced caliber. I suppose it should keep the 10km IJN torps. Should be a strong ship.
