Saw in the 0.7.11 updates details there was mention of Chikuma. Does this mean they have managed to balance out the hybrid aircraft cruiser?

It's not the hybrid cruiser. It's the WW1 Chikuma. It's tier 2.

I'm sorry but what "hybrid aircraft cruiser"? Chikuma is a T2 cruiser.

There is a "MIkuma" of Mogami-class though.

I think he meant the other Chikuma, a Tone class heavy cruiser.

She carried 6 float planes. Dunno if that is enough to call "aircraft cruiser".

If that is the case then that would be Tone herself, not her sister ship.

(rebuilt) Ise-class is the only true and completed class of "hybrid aircraft-carrying artillery ships" IMO. 22 planes.

Yeah, Yamato has 7 ‘charges’ of spotter planes, presumably based on how many it carried in RL. But that doesn’t make it an “aircraft battleship” hybrid.
