Game problems & Bans

I had finished a game and was in Port. Game 'hung' - couldn't do anything else, but Ctl+Alt+Del to reboot. When I'd run various utilities on rebooting to ensure all was OK with my PC, I re-entered WoWS... only to be told I'd incurred a three (3) game penalty for 'Unsporting Conduct'. WoWS needs to re-evaluate their penalty procedures. I'm sure the people at WoWS are brilliantly self-righteous, but maybe they could address various issues like this and MM & excessive Service charges and RNG. Happy players are better-paying customers... MM, RNG and other problems affect the game's enjoyment, leading to less playing time and players looking elsewhere to spend their disposable income. Any feedback pls?

- Mike

I think the event you described is too rare to change the whole penalty system. Besides no matter however you detect it, can always be abused. Besides, penalty is NEVER given to you while you are in the port mate. We cannot just take your word. I myself got disconnected / crashed many times while in port, never happened. So may be you got out of your last game early? Or you crashed during a battle, or may be you dealt team damage on your last game.. There is no other possibility.

So I do not believe you were telling us the entire story.

icy_phoenix, thx for responding. I had been deleted in a previous game and had exited to Port. Yes, I think the game itself was in progress, I just wasn't participating in it. As I said, my PC 'hung' - no keyboard/mouse responses and no alternate, but to soft-reboot. I'm concerned that for every player, if they have a similar stoppage, they're unfairly penalised. Surely, there's some way of recognising this problem?

Only devs can say that. But if you were penalized while you were sunk and returned to port, without dealing team damage enough to be penalized, it seems like a bug. You could probably report with the python log files from the profile directory. The crash log should also be present there. You have to contact the supports if you want to do something formal.

There were several threads about this before. WG reacted because players complained about other players being AFK. Obviously, this has to be some kind of automatic process, rather than manual.

Don't get mad at me, you are the one who sounds self-righteous here. Again, WG reacted to player complaints. Damned if they do and damned if they don't, I guess.

The crash log can be found in the report directory and you may send it to WG. though I doubt they will/can do anything

I have seen quite a few people complain about this very thing.

Perhaps I have been lucky, but I have never experienced this - even though I have crashed out of games for one reason or another on many occasions.

I have had complete computer crashes that let me do nothing except a hard reset, times when the game crashed and couldn't restart without rebooting and other times when the game seems to load all ships into one corner and won't deploy them and though my computer was running, I had no option but to hard reset or cntrl-alt-del to restart.

Most of the time I get back in, in time to resume playing, and sometimes of course, to watch my ship sink (*sobs*).

In short - I seem to have gone through the exact same circumstances that others describe, though have never received a "gone pink" penalty for it.

I agree with @icy_phoenix above, there is more to this story and I think there always is.

Stop buying premium missions, or using paid flags, or any consumable etc, unless the system have been running stable for several months.

Hypothetical scenario #1

Player dies after launching torps. Player exits game, torps go on to kill team mate without player being aware of outcome. Player does not see battle report and turns pink without knowing why.

Hypothetical scenario #2

Player presses 'battle' button and game crashes, player unable to reboot. Ship then goes into game and of course player is afk. Once again player gets penalized without knowing why.

Im not saying either of these things happened to you, OP.

But it does show how our puny human brains are no match for the might of massive computers that crunch numbers with broken algorithms.

I just tried to figure out how to report a player and gave up, the process atm sends me around and around and around, so kudos to anyone who figured it out at least :)

Easy way, go to post battle results, team score, right mouse click, report tap, choose 1 of the following, unsportsmanlike like conduct, misbehavior in chat, afk.

Option doesn't last long so use it quick

Had a similar thing a few months back 2 outages in half an hour, both times in battle, got warnings about unsupportive behaviour, and a short penalty, it's not like I make a habit of it, 4th time in three years, would be interesting knowing the number/% of players that have the same gripe, but it's like the penalty for accidentally being rammed by other players was sitting behind an island recovering when I got rammed by a BB and a CA trying to occupy the same space, triple whammy. but that's the game I guess. Happy hunting mate.
