Captain Skill For La Gasolina

I run DE, EL, PT and AR for La Gasolina. Right now i have 4 points extra, i am not sure to take CE or IFHE first.

I have it test run in Co-OP, this ship has bad concealment and trouble to deal HE damage to T8 ships. 

Ps: I m not a main cruiser player, need some help here.

You have to save some for AA Builds...

So far the CV TST for La Gal is incredibly famous, well because FRANCE STOLE THE BOFORS FROM SWEDEN AND MAKE IT AS THE BEST AA GUNS

IFHE or CE.  Either is a good choice.  If want to live longer CE, if want higher damage out put go IFHE.

About captain skills for La Gallison, the recommendations in the wiki will always give you a playable ship.

For a ship with 150mm guns, IFHE is valuable, but I’d pick that after CE, so you need at least a 14 pointer. Yes, you will do more damage with IFHE, but CE means that it will be easier to disengage, go into concealment and escape – or sneak up on a target.

Do you keep the captain with the ship, or do you move the captain up the line? If you move the captain, it is always good to see what skills are useful for higher tier ships.

CE first. you won't need IFHE from Algerie to Saint Louis. You might need IFHE for the last one, Henri, but not before.

But if you are putting a dedicated captain for La Gale, then IFHE first. You don't really need CE for mid tier fast cruisers.

Yes IFHE is a good investment in Henri. Gun caliber is big enough that IFHE buff lets her pen all the BB deck armor in the game.

But that's also why you take IFHE later, not before.

I mean why bother ? Henry can pretty much stack fires all day long , and you are mostly gonna land hits on superstructure anyway. You can use that 4 pts to be extra cheeky instead.

It will depends how you play cruisers. For CE to work, you have to constantly work with the map and stay at distances that allow you to drop back into concealment, if you want to.

 

Many fast cruiser can disengage from battleships at typical engagement distances without CE.

 

And CE or no CE, you may not be able to disengage because of planes, DD’s or other cruisers.

 

I have a number of T6 premiums that I use in operations for captain training and XP/credit farming. I find that in operations, IFHE is definitely the way to go for cruisers  with 150mm guns, because you do more damage and the bots are dumb, so surviving is easier.

 

In Random or Ranked, the story may be different.

CE seems next to useless in Co-Op because the red bots always know where you are so if you are skilling up a commander in CoOp & Ops maybe save it for later.

CE is supposed have -12% to the detection radius of a cruiser. So for LaGal it reduces from 13.32km to 11.72 according to Wiki. Giving you an extra 1.6 km, without any camo taken into account.

I agree that CE is useless in coop or operations, but I don’t think bots know ‘where you are’. Don’t quite understand what makes you say that.

You can see the bots are programmed to steam towards a particular point, often a cap. If they spot you, they may change course and go after you. If they don’t spot you, they usually end up sitting in a cap, doing nothing. When you start shooting at them in the cap, they move again and attack.

I believe the point is that coop or scenarios are a race for kills. When you stop shooting to go into concealment, your team-mates continue killing the bots. Much more effective to minimize damage by angling your ship (if the ship is suitable for that), wiggle to evade fire and use islands to isolate your target.

The bots target selection is less than optimal. Keep an eye on where their guns point, or the PT indicator, and you get away with manoevers that would get you killed in Random.

But, no, I don’t think they “anyway know where you are”.

Yes they do know, especially bot CVs who make a beeline for DDs .

I have often enough seen planes come and turned and if I didn’t get into my "spotted from the air" circle, they didn’t turn to come after me.

Maybe they know where you are, they don’t know where I am.
