Hello everyone

Want to know how/why boats approaching smoke screens disappear until close to where you are located? Then they just kill you with raw power most of the time.

It's as if the other boasts beside your DD have zero detection, even better than smoke really.

Each boat has a different assured detection range which will be displayed in the ship parameters I port or by pressing "H" in game.   Your detection range in smoke is also increased upon firing (2.76km for the Fushun).  Detection ranges of ships also vary greatly (and your top DD :Fushun is not particularly stealthy at a base detection of 7.02km)  so all these factors play a part in whether you remain undetected or not.

Smoke can be a double-edged sword. It prevents the enemy from seeing you, but it also prevents you from seeing the enemy.

If nobody else is spotting the enemy then they will disappear too if you use smoke.

Is that what you were experiencing?

Also, as has been well documented, smoke is also a torpedo magnet. If you smoke up in front of enemy ships equipped with torpedos, assume they are coming. And due to smoke, you cannot spot them until last second unless running hydro.

I would assume then that's what is happening most of the time. However a lot of the time you can still spot enemy boats - maybe because they have fired their guns. The disappearing usually occurs just after they spot you, then you can't see them until they are really close.

Thanks for the replies. Is there documentation/info anywhere about these kind of things?

And if you hold down 'h' in game you get all the concealment stats for your ship, normal, when in smoke, when firing in smoke etc. Many people still think they can fire in smoke and temain undected.
