I'm didn't found any advantages. Seriously, the last time i played New York it was quite terrible. She can't even angling. Slow guns, slow rudder shift, slow turret traverse, slow speed, bad armor.even with hull upgrades her reload time is still sucks. It's just ugh. My main goal is to reach new mexico. So, i need some true advice. Edited June 8, 2018 by mr_glitchy_R

If you cant deal with New York you will have it worse when you reach New Mexico and Colorado which are both as slow and have to deal with ships that can fight comfortably at 15-17 km. New York isnt a good ship anymore due to powercreep , but it also has its trademark extremely powerful broadside weight that can send any cruiser to port. Use that fact. Stop trading salvoes for salvoes and look for chances to hit citadels on broadside ships. You are slow , so you usually avoid overextending very well , but you wont get out of one either. Plan ahead and help out on flanks that have ships to protect you from being bullied.
36 [STEIN] ColonelRVH Member 192 posts 7,911 battles Report post #3 Posted June 8, 2018 New York is fine, just plan far ahead, you can get devast strike with her much easier than New Mexico. It is recommended to play in division to back you up.
566 [KAMI] Gummiheng Member 1,564 posts 12,980 battles Report post #4 Posted June 8, 2018 (edited) the USN dreadnoughts (5-7) all require you to plan ahead carefully but first you need to constant track your team movements so you wont get left alone. Be more patient with the gun system let the enemies show their side(always happen in t5 MM) so you can exploit them with your 12-shells(you kill german BB easily) You can dodge ship torpedo quite easily given the low speed, you turn abit faster due to your turning radius Edited June 8, 2018 by Gummilicious

The good news is that, if you can grind past it, things change for the better (much better) for the final 3 bbs in the us line.

Honestly, I'm complaining about my free NM and how a snail moves faster than it. Edited June 8, 2018 by dejiko_nyo Add more stuff.
712 [BLESS] Rina_Pon Member 1,305 posts 11,687 battles Report post #7 Posted June 8, 2018 If you are in a T5-7 battle then no, neither your armor nor your leet angling skillz will amount to much. You are relegated to supporting the first line BBs, sniping targets of opportunity from behind the bigger ships. In T4-5 battles you are the alpha dog. Or maybe the alpha turtle. Anyway, you define the no-go areas for enemy cruisers and T4 BBs.. become your team's backbone and VIP. P.S. I liked Colorado and New York better than New Mexico. Range + Accuracy >> number of shells.

I do prefer fast/manoeuvrable BB's, so I just ground my way through and sold T2 to T7 US BB's... but when operations came in, I re-bought New Mexi (12 guns) and Colorado again. You can get a tick of an improve by running speed flag. Could even run Adrenalin Rush, but most captains will use captain skill that help survivability, in case you want to use the ship in Random. Huge damage dealing capabilities, great concealment as well. Iirc new Mex can go as low as 11.9 km. Something no cruiser wants to see. Speed is never a problem for BBs, you just need to learn to choose the right flank.

Your guns is very useful and can deal a terrify amount of damage at close range battle and their AA guns is good enough to defend yourself and your teammates too.
