no deal what are you talking about

but if i remembered right, KGV planned as tier 8, but a under super test progress there are to many complained about her under performance in tier 8, so WG kick her to tier 7 and now she is one of most "fun and engagement" ship to deal with.:Smile_facepalm:

What is reason to her back to tier 8 anyway ?

They were going to make Vanguard t8,  but then they decided on a whim to make a clone KGV with a couple of extra guns & some slightly bigger stats ( the non existent ship Monarch), then they put the never completed Lion class in at t9, & they made another fantasy ship that looked like Vanguard at t10 ( the non existent Conqueror)....

There seems to be a fetish for non existent fantasy ships, instead of real ships, & add the new fetish of whacko camouflages which includes election winning gilt trimmings, neon coloring, & beer cans on top of ship...

Might have dragons fly around next, like skyrim....

Sorry, I should've said assumed & speculated.... Because a long time before that, even before the British bb line idea was first announced, everyone thought Vanguard would go to t8,  they never said anything about it back at that time, that was when speculation was rife.... Way Before we all knew they were putting KGV & Nelson both at t7...

They had better have "special plans" for Vanguard. I and many others have been waiting anxiously for quite a long time. When's it coming you ask? Soon ™. :Smile-angry:

I thought Monarch was essentially a KGV at T8, which is why the ship is generally not loved.  KGV does well at T7, but Monarch not so well at T8.

Here's what I thought the general speculation was at the time RN BB's were announced but line not fully completed by WG:

T10-IDK

T9-Lion

T8-KGV

T7-Nelson

T6-Queen Elizabeth

T5-IDK

T4-IDK

T3-HMS Dreadnought

And then I was severely depressed when they said "NEIN, NO NELSON 4 U!" (I wanted Nelson badly) and set the bar at 300k FXP which I am still working towards with 200kfxp at the moment and replaced Nelson with KGV, slipped Monarch into T8 and completely sidelined the Vanguard when I think it was speculated that it was going to be a T7/8 premium

Kgv would never had fit as a t8, because of its 14" guns, Vanguard would've been great for t8 as it had upgraded 15" guns (originally from glorious & courageous of 1917) but turrets were heavily rebuilt & rearmoured & elevation raised, Nelson was also in speculation for t7-t8, as it was widely slated that Hood was going to be the premium ship, also the Lion could be t9, & a N3 battleship design from the proposed plans of British postwar (the Rodney/Nelson are truncated versions of the N3 accepted designs of 1921, heavily nerfed in order to satisfy the Washington treaty signatories, so as to allow England to build 2 new battleships)

The R class was speculated at one stage for t6 as we already had Warspite, Iron Duke at t5, t4 speculated (& hoped for) Agincourt, & t3 Dreadnought.

The Indefatigable/Invincible classes would make good t4 premiums as well, though they probably be very easy to citadel, but according to admiral fisher "their speed is part of their armour".....

Anyway, quite a few people including me, were speculating ( & hoping) at the time, because they took a long time to be announced & a long time to come out...

They have been out now for a while, so speculating further on a completed issue is sort of pointless...

Think I'll go & hunt a few in my Lyon

As others have said, Vanguard was never planned to be tier 8.

But in regard to to the Monarch and Conqueror...

Monarch is based on the 1935 "Design 15-B" for the same project as King George V. It's a preliminary design for KGV that was never chosen due to the 2nd London Naval Treaty which would reduce the maximum allowed caliber of guns on new battleships to 14". See the image below.

As for Conqueror, the ship as it appears is indeed fake, but the original draft (With 18" guns) was based on Project L2, dating back to the 1920s (See image below)- The guns were an existing design by Vickers. I guess Wargaming wanted to mix L2's attributes with the hull styles of the Lions.

L2_project_1920.jpg

From a historical perspective, the ships are a bit strangely modeled, with Monarch carrying post-war lattice masts and stuff. Wargaming does often create fake ships but has at least some research behind them and so credit where credit is due.

The Wargaming Russian Wiki is surprisingly good with historical information and better developed than the English one, and you can take a read if you want to.

Thanks for your input @InterconKW, gives me something to look for & research,  :fish_book:  as I was unaware of any preliminary designs of the KGV class, & of the existence publicly of L2 or earlier designs (these would be part of the design ideas that encompass the G3/N3 designs that were taken to the Washington treaty I take it?

As for the Russian wiki, I can't speak or read Russian......:fish_palm:
