Seems like I (and many other forum regulars) owe WG an apology. WG have listened to the complaints about constant AFK players and morons who simply enter battle to team kill etc etc....

Also coming in 0.7.4:  Shima detection buff. Hipper and Prinz Eugen buffs. Midway nerf. Orion nerf. UI tweaks. New port Kronstadt.

Check it all out at the link below.

System for Prevention of Unsporting Conduct

World of Warships is a game in which players team up for a single purpose—outfighting the opponent at sea and in the air. But let's make it clear—players are all human. We all have emotions, and no man is wise at all times. It definitely won't do any good to your team if you miss a teammate's maneuver and send your torpedoes right into his path, or if you succumb to anger or frustration and send a salvo at your ally, or if you forget that you've already pressed the "Battle" button and go do something else. In World of Warships, we've always kept an eagle eye on, and tried to act up on players whose behavior does not always correspond to the rules of the game. The upcoming Update 0.7.4 bring in an enhanced system for tracking offenders, bringing it to a whole new level.

Like in the previous iteration, the main indicator of a player's status will be the color of their nickname. If it's white, the player has not committed any violations recently. A nickname that's gone pink means the player's had a warning and should mend their [in-game] manners. Orange color means the player's been punished for unsporting conduct.

Let's take a quick look at the main violations which can result in a warning or penalty followed by a change in the player's nickname color.

  • Inactivity in battle
  • Damage to Allies/Team Kills
  • Fleeing the battle

For violation of the rules, AFK/sleeping status in battle or fire at allies, the system will display a warning in the Port, informing the player of a change in their status and explaining the actions that entailed the change. If the warning does not produce the desired effect and the player continues to violate the rules, the next step will be a ban on entry to certain types of battles, in particular those where individual performance may affect the final result. To be allowed access to battles with real players in Random, Ranked and Scenario Battles, violators will have to play several Co-op battles against bots.

So i will get a warning now if my internet connection dies in the middle of a game and will have to explain why and how my connection died.

There will be some accidental cases, but this is a necessary change. And if your internet connection dies regularly, you should avoid playing team oriented games during those times.

Or learn to live pink in coop battles.

True the change is a necessary one but the change must be such, which can actually identify the ones who are intentionally ruining the game experience for others by TK'ing or being AFK the whole game or not playing there roles during the game. One should not categorize an occasional internet connection failure as "Fleeing the battle".

Most of the players do actually lead a life outside the gaming world too where they have to answer an important call during the game or may be attend the doorbell or may be attend there child for 5 mins. Unfortunately most players cannot shut themselves from the outside world just for the sake of gaming. And honestly most players do not spend a shit ton of money on there rig and get the best internet connection in town just to ensure that they never face outages. Or even for that matter for some players, even if they spend the buck they might not get the value for the money just because there isnt anything available in there area which will assure them zero outages. For most, gaming is just a mode of relaxation or a hobby and not a full time dedication.

WG needs to analyze the trends of players who violate the rules repeatedly before issuing a warning or giving a ban. Also, it might not take long for certain players to exploit these rules. Imagine a griefer intentionally sailing into your torps, take a flooding and not repairing it. In the end you get the warning and having to grind through coops.

So just like banks maintain a list of there customers who are potential launderers, WG should maintain a player list for each server with high violation of rules, get regularly reported, etc. And when they violate even more, handle them accordingly. Just dont treat the average player as bot.

Again to make things little less oppressive, WG can block the ship with which a particular rule violation was done instead of blocking the player to be able to play randoms. To be able to play the ship again grind it through coop.

Having to play pink straight through 10 coop battles to be able to play in randoms again. Goodbye to the plans of "increasing" the playerbase numbers or retaining oldies.

Its a far better option than I would do to AFK'ers, botters and TK'ers.  They wouldn't be a part of the player base.

Hence why my career is not marketing.

The measures aren't probably final yet. I'd suggest we better wait and see. Too early to react. One thing for sure, WG care about keeping playerbase alive more than we do. Like Ralphie said above, we would probably suggest even harder punishment if it were upon us.

I mean, we know that everyone is "innocent until proven guilty", but doesn't mean you can't get arrested sometimes :D

Yeah lets hope WG can actually target the ones who cause all the trouble rather than making the life of the average gamer miserable.
