I'm quite certain that a lot of people are aware and have been complaining about the stagnant, standoff-like gameplay meta in World of Warships;

People camping, staying at max range, and contributing little, making the match last a full 20 minutes or at least dang near close :3

Of course, people in WarGaming have been trying to provide us w more... diverse game experience by providing game modes such as Domination and Epicenter

People have been "encouraging" players to be more active and aggressive in matches, but as we have seen, it hasn't worked out that much.

So what if we stop encouraging, and instead MANDATING people to be so?

Hence, I suggest adding a new game mode to the Random Battles experience.

Oh yes people, we create a Random Battles game mode wherein the MAP SLOWLY SHRINKS as time passes.

I only have the general idea in mind right now, so I can't provide specific match mechanics.

Basically we'll have 12 v 12 as usual, but the presence of a central cap is optional (considering the game mode is inspired from a survival game)

Like in PUBG, the map slowly shrinks, but there will be a countdown timer and the border differences of the shrunk area will be seen.

The borders will either be impassable like standard map borders, or you will receive a HP loss per second as a penalty for crossing/if you're outside the border while it's shrinking.

Well, at least something similar to the Halloween Operation Part 2 that slowly chunk out players HP within the mist.

Definitely. And, in order to *ahem* "encourage" people to stay within the boundaries we can increase the rate of HP loss, say, a percentage relative to the ship's HP per second.

We can do something along the lines of... 0.5% to 1.0% of ship's max HP per second; so the player would have about two to three minutes of leeway to enter the cap before dying.

AND once you're outside the shrunken zone "Repair Party" cannot be used.

How about a game play where players are divided into two teams and have to capture a target? Kinda like the Halloween campaign or even the PvE games. But this time, in order to win, you are forced to move to either capture/protect/destroy a target.

IIRC there was something similar to that during the early development stages of WoWs.

Turns out players did not give two craps about protecting/escort roles; they want to shell the crap out of each other, nothing else.

But for the shrinking map, you will be FORCED to get close, tank, deal dmg and overall contribute to the game because you cannot sit far away, camp and snipe.

If you do, you will lose 0.5% to 1% of your ship's max HP per second if you are outside the border AND you also cannot use heals. This means you can die in.. 2-3 minutes if u refuse to stay within the shrinking border.

That way, people will get closer, and engage targets more aggressively which would most likely result in more active gameplay.

 

If you are familiar with games like Fortnite and Playerunknown's Battlegrounds you should have a good idea of what I'm talking about.
