Shima needs some kind of buff for sure. I havent touched mine in...all year I think.

Worst T10 DD, maybe worst T10 ship.

'Upgraded' probably isn't the word.  The 20km torps are being tested with 0.7km concealment (down from 2.5km) in DW configuration, but are only able to hit BB's and CV's.  These torps pigeon hole the ship massively, not being able to hit cruisers or DD's is a huge penalty, there is no way they would be a good option.

They are also trialling TRB on the Shima, which is another story, that would be a massive buff (and lead to a lot of complaints I suspect).

I really don't see why they would trial the ship this way, if they want to buff it they should buff either the concealment, the torp reload or the gun reload, or a combination of these.  It's really not that far off, just have a look at how amazing the Yugumo is if they want a blueprint on how to make a good IJN DD.

Maybe now all of these lazy cruiser players will ACTUALLY do their job, & ACTIVELY TARGET DDs, instead of going off trying to kill the biggest target they can find & ignore DDs altogether... Maybe this will kick them into team cooperation.... They should start by targeting ALL pan Asian DDs first,  Wipe them out !!

I wouldn't really call DWTs on IJN DDs an upgrade, they are a sidegrade at the most.

DWTs work on Pan-Asian DDs because they still have their good guns to fall back on when it comes to handling other DDs. But IJN don't have that.

And only able to hit BBs and CVs? That is only a third of the enemy. This is over-specialisation to the extreme. And I thought WG learnt from USN CVs that over-specialisation does not make ships fun to play.

I do not see how this will make it to live server. But I can very clearly see that this is yet another attempt by WG to control the BB population by introducing specific counters, instead of just fixing BBs themselves. AP bombs and DWTs were just the beginning.

if they have special effect like ... unspotable by plane, I might use it.

key to use 20km torp is to not let them pass within cap area or they bound to be spot by DD

these day game full of Radar ship and ultra stealth gunboat make even 12km torp still very hard/dangerous to use some time

I really want nerf all radar range never exceed 10km across the board T_T

I've noticed DW torps really don't get spotted very often by planes or DD's.  Although the hit rate against BB's is about the same for both normal and DW torps remain unspotted until concealment range to the target, the chances of the DW torps remaining undetected is significantly higher.  I've found my Yue Yang hit rate is about 30% more than similar torp boats because of this.

If you compare Gearing torps (1.4km concealment) to YY torps (0.8km concealment), it doesn't sound like it would make too much of a difference, but for a plane to spot your torps it has to get within a circle around the torps with a radius of the concealment.  For Gearing torps this is a 6.2km2 area, where for the YY torps it is a 2.0km2 area.  The YY torps very often make it to the target unspotted even if there are plenty of planes in the area.

It won't really matter if CV player is good though, he will keep the DD spotted, hence anything coming out of it towards friendly will also be spotted. Besides, planes aren't even the problem. The enemy DDs between you and your large target at the back are the ones going to spot your torps for most cases. Thing is, if you don't see many torps coming your way, you wont see many dw coming your way either. It means you can anticipate.

TRB Shima will be incredibly hilarious to play though. Never mind the DWT, just run the 12km or 8km torps with TRB, it's gonna be soo good ruining everyone's game after being insulted as the worst T10.

I personally don't want WG to remove type 93 lang lance, it's her signature weapon after all (despite how bad it is)

it's the same as remove 46cm gun from yamato.

last match I wrack havoc whole enemy flank by these torp, give my team opportunity to push.

IMO, Type93 can still be fun (sometimes)
