Not really. Let's put it this way. Potential damage is the maximum amount of damage anything in game can do to you. So lets say you dodge a 10k damage torpedo and the game recognises it, you get 10k potential damage. Now, if you have a FDG firing at you, missing all of his AP shells, you get 96k potential damage, so it really isn't THAT much

Potential damage is the damage a shell or torpedo is the total damage you would have received in a match had, every shell penetrated, every shell that landed near you hit you(check the distance at which this counts) and every torpedo that came near you hit you and damaged you.

It's not that hard with T9/10 cruisers as the damage potential at that tier is very high. The hard part is to survive. Some ways I can think of:

1.Pick Moskva, bow on, reverse when detected and go reading adult materials for 10 mins.

2.Play German CA and equip sonar, charge a little near the cap to spot torps and go within 500m radius of those torps, then kite away.

3.Play Zao normally and it will come after 3-4 matches.

potential damage

are from shell torpedo

that shell or torpedo miss or do damage for that ship

example

12 shells miss (or no penetration nor bounce)

1 shell = 3400 damage

12 shell = 40800 potential damage

if 1 shell hit do 1133 damage (from 3400 per shell)

11 shell miss+1 hit=38533 potential damage

is it possible for cruiser

answer : yes

Well, I did it in the ARP Takao, it's not THAT hard. Get a few BBs spamming AP at you and you'll be done in no time. A salvo from FDG is nearly 100k, just repeat 15 times, not THAT hard

For example,a Myogi's AP shell do 10000 damage if it hits citadel.

It fires 10 shells at you,no matter they hits or not,you got 10*10000 potential damage.That's it.

Yeah found :I I dropped my half finished credits mission thinking I could get it in the still ongoing match. Turns out it was 9+. I still did 1.5mil potential damage though

Git Gud. Atago is good enough that angling help, and the 9.4 km concealment allows you to drop off the enemy's sight and run away. If you get citadeled, it's your fault

Picked it up playing the Donski last weekend, was retreating from pinging radar in a cap.   Short story was our flank collapsed and I spend half the match retreating to the other flank while being chased by a DD and half the enemy team.  Racked up 1.7M potental damage.  Lots of tail wiggling.
