If you read below the charts, they have restrictions/rules on the ship's class and nationality.

I think it might take into account how good you are or how many games you have played.... The better you get or the more games you have played, the worse the MM

 

 

Either that or the game has a hidden microphone/meter in the chatbox, designed to detect rage, so the more exasperated you get at lemmings, situations you get, the system punishes you by putting you into ridiculous MM...
