Why does Air superiority loadout even exist?

WG just like promoting [content removed] to WOWS, both in quantity ( AS Loadout) and quality ( strafe abuse with megabuff on ammo). They have been promoting civil war between CV as "balance".

Personally I dont like the way CV has developed as now.The AA buff on warships discourage fleet action, which then discourage the teamwork to exist. Everyone dont afraid of cv strike plane since they have powerful AA against them, and everyone move alone become new "meta". The old meta promoted fleet action as well as CV Escort since the existence of pure strike will make the lone wolf pay.

The existence of AS load out is bullshit at all. I have been watching 2 AS load out Ryujo playing around their fighters almost till the end while making no effort for team. And at the same time, I have been watching 2 013 Strike Lexington try their best to break and flank enemy defends line.

One AS player would argue that they spot for ally while avoid teammate taking damage from strike plane, Here is the question, If that AS player don't even queue as CV, enemy CV would not arranged into the match, and both team do not have the need to AA, while DD still take over the spotting work. I find no meaning and reason in AS CV.

While someone would also argue that AS will shut enemy carrier down and secure team's victory. However, AS CV just don't have enough strike power to affect the surface ship. In addition, even an AS CV got clear sky achievement, it contribute no effort into victory.

AS CV is just a [content removed] which don't contribute into team victory. One simple rule for victory is there: Kill or cap for victory.

CV don't have ability to cap is obvious, while AS CV don't have enough power to kill surface ship, neither by alpha damage or DOT. AS CV just eliminate the reason of existence of both team's CV.

Take the opposite example from battle between BB: BB's reason of existence is to eliminate enemy BB/CA, while the kill will be counted as a victory requirement. For CV, even if you take out all plane reserve of enemy CV as an AS CV, AS CV player dont even fulfill and contribute any effort for team's victory requirement ( Kill or cap).

AS CV players can only jerk off claiming they did their best for their exp but they are irrelevant for team's victory/loss. I have RANT a lot, IMO, AS CV do not prove their reason of existence and totally no fun to play with or against.

Heh seems like my post about Zuiho vs Bogue experience... only a lot harsher. Though I do agree AS really messes up the day of the enemy CV and lose their utility once the target is shutdown. But at the moment if you take out the AS, then US and IJN lines will have to be completely identical with little to no change in experience apart from nation preference. I would love the balance to be revised between CVs but I can't come up with any ideas myself. :S

People play AS because it is less demanding overall and they can have a sense of fun while not being as good.

From experienced cv player perspective , it is a dumb and ez way to get competitive as try hard ones.

Also AS is very bot friendly.

I hate AS , because it ruin the fun totally for the other cv player while it at best lie on the mercy of its team to win the match as itself is totally crap in intervening surface fights.

AS loadout is OP for Taiho and Hakuryuu as they retain 2x torp squad, so they dont lose any surface presence at all while Midway and Essex trade all of their strike potential to do the same

1. AS LOADOUT IS BETTER FOR THE TEAM, no bombing from the sky!

just saying, people hate Lexi with strike loadout why?

- Completely spotted, DD will get rekt if they spotted.... of course no DD would go for cap

- enemy DD can FREELY CAP

- Losing by point

- Lexi strike become useless because cannt fight the both USN or IJN AS loadout 

 

2. both CV become useless is better rather than both CV become too powerfull. no surface ship want their WR is affected by the CV only :V

IMAGINE! both CV IS AGREE TO DO FREE BOMBING AGREEMENT! the surface ship is only prey of CV bombing..... ship AA? nope

 

3. AS loadout can kill surface ship....

- from bogue~indy i must admit AS cannt do that, with only 1 DB..... so stock loadout for independence are DA BEST

- starting from ranger, 2 DB is enough to rekt DD or DoT the Cruiser or battleship

- the PROBLEM IS AIMING MANUAL DIVE BOMBER, require good skill, harder than TB

- for IJN, AS loadout mean losing 35% of their actual damage, 1 TB and 2 DB can still rekt large ship but harder againts DD

 

4. SPOTTING ARE USEFULL

- BB need spotting, from DD torpedo or where is enemy

- by knowing the every position of the enemy, team can decide where to go

 

5. PRESS CTR+Z

for awesome dogfighting scene...... bad habbit though

I would say it is played by people who really don't like CV's and just want to ruin the other CV's day.  I have no opinion on that either way but I think some people would get satisfaction from that.

 

The main issue is that CV's need serious work.  Balance needs to be much better, and there needs to be less impact on a team whose CV is completely outmatched by the other team's CV skill wise.  This should be a disadvantage (obviously), but not the auto loss that it is now.  I personally think ships spotted by aircraft should be only targetable by the CV, and for everyone else just be on the minimap.  This would discourage the passive DD play that CV's promote.

Once match I had 2 memetaurs division with me and I played Midway 212 vs 2Desmemes division with Hakuryu 422+MM troll me 1Desmeme unknown from MM wow MM!! WHY!!!! (And their division too!!!!) have fun 3 radar 120sec :trollface: but I won because teamwork

Imho, I like CVs. Lol.. Specially in tier 7 to 10..

 

Why?

 

Because i like looking at fireworks when my ships AA becomes active.

 

Also, it gives my ship more value when it comes to helping teamates without an AA build.

 

And finally, i love torpedobeating....though, its always a 50/50 chance of survival for me from tier 9 and 10

All ship types counter themselves. So why shouldn't CV counter themselves?

 

The problem is that CV counters another CV doesn't contribute for team victory. Can AS CV delete another CV for the match? Cannot, insufficient strike power. BB counters BB for damage or even kill another BB, which their team will gain a kill count contributing to victory. DD counters DD so they can cap for victory. How about CV counters CV as you said? Both being useless and have no influence for the match.In addition, CV just don't have enough squadron of fighters to counter all strike package from another cv, like even Midway's 3 squad of fighters versus Hakuryu's 6 squad of strike plane.

AS load out is only effective on T5 Bogue's 201 with manual attack, I played it a lot for only 2 reason, get clear sky achievement (free signal flags) and make opponent suffer.

 IMO, CV line should be deleted if AS load out exist, totally unfun to play with and against.

First, reply to your fourth point, all controlable plane including strike plane can do the same spotting function like fighter, there is no plain different between their spotting ability except their durability.

Thats why for experienced cv player, only the number of plane squadrons matters for team spotting. That is also why Hiryu can do the spot better even with its balanced load out.

 

For damage wise( your third point) , US AS CV just do not have enough DOT power to kill ship. I tried it hard by coordinating with division mate to perform dot. However, US Bomber RNG just troll you hard. For BB as target, you cannot guarantee a hit each time you drop bombs on him, not mentioning the chance of fire on those rare hit. For DD as target, RNG just troll you more and you can only pray to RNG. Taking Saipan's huge bomber squadron with captain skill, I can seldom wrecking DD 2/3 of its HP, yet the next drop give me no hit. I am talking about manual drop(Lexington), not auto drop. The striking power of US AS is just a joke involving heavily on your luck.

For IJN AS CV, you neither have enough air superiority power nor strike power.For tier 6,7&8, Ryujo, Hiryu and Shokaku do not have enough fighter health to counter US fighter, not enough ammo to strafe or engage strike plane long enough, nor having enough strike power with their low health 1 TB and 2 DB strike plane.

 

As your first and second point suggested, I think all CV should be removed from world of warships for balancing reason ( balance between both CV's IQ) for the sake of other player's game play experience (including CV players) if the Air superiority load out still exists for no strong reason.

 

What is the reason using AS load out if I cannot influence the match result which victory depends on surface ships duel?

 

What is the reason using Strike or Balanced load out if the opponents can simply use AS load for every time ruining my day?

 

WG, Do it! Delete all CV in your game world, for my better day playing as DD/BB! Or delete AS load out for Strike/ Balanced load out CV's better day! WG just said they won't disappoint CV player in 2016, what's now?

LEL, there is a different. if yo spot using strikeplane a fighter will try to shootdown it. if you are using fighter, u can force enemy to dogfight you or must ignore you. if you are on AS and enemy have Strike,this is more favorable.

first if you not confident to get "lucky RNG" why playing AS? the DB is not 100% always miss, so you can still doing damage. a least you need 2 DB in squadron. this is only appl to lexington that have 10K bomb damage. also the fire chance of USN DB is higher than IJN, your bad luck is YOUR PROBLEM. and dont bomb the ship that  still have fire on it :V

making the both CV useless IS BALANCE FOR SURFACE SHIP. if there is no AS loadout, imagine everybody with free bombing agreement sunk evrey ship. no fun for surface ship. AS loadout is CHOICE, if you dont like it then DONT CHOOSE IT. if you play strike and enemy have AS loadout, THAT IS YOUR PROBLEM :V

AS loadout prevent enemy strike loadout from completely destroy your team. doing spotting can prevent DD torp to hit your BB. AS loadout can bomb enemy CV :V

learn how to trick enemy fighter, if you are in USN strike.... DB is ultimately the fastest plane... except againt pesky saipan, an empty DB can be a decoy to enemy fighter. or try to bomb enemy CV, i can guarantee less fighter will prevent you from attacking.
