A bit of an idea.

So a few days ago, I met a Midway and checked his stats. (I do this whenever I meet carriers in high tiers)

And I felt pretty surprised. He skipped all the way from Bogue to Midway.

As we all know, carriers can do a better control over the battlefield and thus the WR can vary drastically depending on the player's skill. Let's say a AFK Yamato, Shimakaze and Hakuryu, I'd say the AFK Hakuryu will have the worst WR of them all.

So IIRC wargaming promised to let Saipan available for only people experienced in carrier gameplay to not letting potatoes ruin the game, why don't they just limit how much free exp one can use on researching a carrier line? Let's say 50%, so one can be at least somewhat experienced when he reaches a high tier CV. So what do you guys think?

(I don't know how to post a voting topic using the mobile version)

Limiting free XP that can be used sounds good in theory, but might upset "paying customers" when a new line comes out.

That said, I kind of agree that if you skip an entire carrier line, you will be a liability to your team unless you have grinded through an entire carrier line properly.

The Saipan thing got cancelled for an unknown reason, but at least they considered it in the past. Frankly speaking, limiting it to 50+% just encourages CV sealclubbing unless the winrate is more skewed towards higher tiers (e.g. needs good winrate in T8+ CVs to be able to buy a Saipan).

Already pitched this idea when Saipan in testing, WG says they dont want to lose customer. So yeah, WG need that money. There is upcoming T8 IJN CV coming soon too, I dont think WG will change the business model.

I dont think it is possible , especially when you have to grind a stock ship - which is the period of abysmal performance. To add salt to the injury the disperancy between IJN and USN are very high at tier 8+ where US are overspecialied and depend on team to be able to do the other task entirely themselves ( pure AA or pure strike) where as IJN carriers always have enough tools to do everything themselves.

Taiho for example with 3x torp bomber will sink or severely wound any bb that do not have AA def fire help  in one go where as an Essex need time to do the same.

The problem with top tier carriers also expand to the incompetence of other classes , espc bb. I as a cv player only able to do damage to the dumb bb who love to stop bow on then reverse frequently and often go yolo in the back with no CA escort. US overspecialization means that how well he do depend a lot on how dumb the enemy team is in one regard where as IJN will be more consistant with their loadouts

All I know is, I don't want CVs to be present on my games. Game without CV is always more fun. It is hard for the team to overcome an inferior CV player's burden. Game is too much dependent on 1 ship, it is never good. Devs should do something so that CVs are more enjoyable to play but having a bit less impact on the game outcome. It makes no sense that 11 ships struggle to win because of just 1 ship in the team.

Totally agree. CVs have far too much vision control and therefore influence . It would be OK if ther was a way for the team to support the CV proactively but right now it's just CV vs CV (unless your CV is an idiot and needs protection from surface ships in which case you are doomed anyway...).

I agree. I like the idea of CVs as a team concept, but they need some adjusting to reduce their individual influence over a match. Less devastating strikes and more team support functions. Also, making them a bit easier to use for the below-average player would mean your entire team wouldn't have to suffer such a huge handicap in such situations.
