In lieu of the additional combat mechanics, namely, spotting and tanking, we should also have more medals in order to promote them. Here are my suggestions:

 

Spotter

Non-heroic (Same worth as a Devastating Strike)

- Spot a ship until it loses 20% of its HP from your team's attacks

- Does not include damage dealt by the spotter

- Minimum of 6k damage dealt to target (In order to make it harder to earn when spotting destroyers)

- Non-cumulative on the same ship (Maximum of 13 medals per team per match)

- Repeatable in the same match

 

Pathfinder

Heroic (Same worth as High Caliber)

- Spot 6 ships until it loses 20% of their HP from your team's attacks

- Automatically received after the 6th Spotter medal

- Does not include damage dealt by the spotter

- Minimum of 6k damage dealt to target

 

Keen Eye

Non-heroic

- Spot a torpedo salvo within 10 seconds of launch

- Does not include torpedoes dropped from aircraft

- Does not include torpedoes fired <3km away

- Repeatable in the same match

 

Vigilant

Heroic

- Spot at least 40% of enemy torpedoes fired in the match

- Torpedoes with a maximum range of 5km or less are not counted

- Does not include torpedoes dropped from aircraft
 
Early Warning
Non-heroic
- Spot a bomber squadron
- CV-exclusive
- Only counts if the squadron is at least 8km away from the nearest friendly ship
- Repeatable, but spotted bombers need to rearm/refuel before being counted again
 
Wide Scope
Heroic
- Spot at least 50% of incoming enemy plane squadrons
- CV-exclusive
- Only counts if the squadron is at least 8km away from the nearest friendly ship
- Minimum of 8 squadrons spotted
 

Battleship

Non-heroic

- Receive potential damage equivalent to 300% of your ship's total health

- Minimum potential damage is 80k

- Does not include torpedo salvoes
- Only counted if allied ship is within 4km
 
Mammoth
Heroic

- Receive potential damage equivalent to 500% of your ship's total health

- Minimum potential damage is 150k

- Does not include torpedo salvoes
- Only counted if allied ship is within 4km
 
Effective Armor
Non-heroic
- End the match after receiving potential damage of at least 1000% of your ship's total health
- Minimum potential damage of 300k
- Includes torpedo salvoes
 
Ironclad
Heroic
- End the match after receiving potential damage of at least 3000% of your ship's total health
- Minimum potential damage of 1M
- Includes torpedo salvoes

I don't think battleships and mammonth would work the way they are intended to be. Because for bigger ships getting this achievement is just a mere consolidation because everyone they held dear around them would disappeared from enemy's sight. Or else enemy would usually pound smoller ships because really if you were at 4 km around BB doesn't mean enemy would not shoot you.

 

Though that would be a good addition for a cruiser

Of course.

 

It's a medal, after all. It may not wholly stop enemies from targeting something else, but it would reward the ship should it choose to tank for the team.
