My Benson, Fletcher, and Gearing captains are all same

1. Basic Firing Training

2. Last Stand

3. Vigilance

4. Survivability Expert

5. Concealment Expert

6. Superintendent (When 18 pt)

With superintendent you going to have 1 extra DFAA which is enough for AA role in Fletcher (also can apply to Gearing) anyways (full AA loadout kinda compromise other aspect) since just consumable can mess up CV strike already and killing planes is not DD role anyways.

And Vigilance can help spot torpedoes for teammate + Superintendent gib u more smoke so more smoke and gun or cover low HP teammate while AA built only able to be effective when enemy have CV

Does TA increase torpedo detection range?

No it doesn't which is why this shit is gonna be devastating provides people doesn't hydro or prematurely spot it via planes

Though not related to the topic, will it go well with sims? Sims torpedoes have very low detection, and it is practically impossible to hit something at 9.2 km with abysmal 45 kts speed.

I did tried that and it's quite silly as 54 knots is still slow and now you got to be around 7km to use it, and it still won't hit anything unless you use it from point blank.

I mean speed is definitely not something additive, the higher initial speed is, the better Torpedo Acceleration would be, which is why this is not a great option on Sims especially since she has rather small window of stealth torping.

Although it might be viable in Benson with her 5.8km surface detection and 7.3km torps (after TA) that is detected at 1.1km, but yeah 18 pt captains

Yes, because 71kn 13km torps for maximum torpedo soup

And WG says IJN DDs are overpowered due to 62kn 20km torps with a 2.5 km detection range. Long Lance much?

It actually does, but it is less noticeable on USN ships because their base torp detection range is lower (on the type 93 mod 2 the detection range difference is 0.2km). Long Lance much.

Is 5 knots a big deal? Just wondering.

Can be a big deal for long range Torpedoes snipe, since you dont have to lead you torps as much as slower one and less reaction time for ur target to evade.

If you ever use Sims 49knot Torpedoes you will realize how hard to make a proper lead and even you get a perfect salvo on some ship there still lots of time for your target to react and evade most of your Torpedoes and on top of that (which not related to this topic) it will do 4000 dmg per hit which is so stupid.
