The Radar RN or the AA RN?

Belfast (Belfast stats) has Radar and much stronger AA than Fiji (Fiji stats). Neither of them get Defensive Fire. Fiji also gets worse hitpoints, worse armour, worse detection range (and also misses out on the Slot 6 upgrade that Belfast gets), but on the positive side gets one 8 km triple torpedo launcher on each side. Guns are the same for both. Fiji doesn't get HE.

Which to choose... such a difficult decision...

Believe it or not, both are good with DDs.... Even without radar.

Though i Feel more secure with better AA.
(I mostly choose C hull on my USN dds for the sake of defensive fire)

i just wish RN had more effective Defensive AA

Anyway... I choose Both Belfast and Fiji

Is there a major difference between Fiji and Belfast's armor?

I marked the difference in bold.

 Fiji

Bow/bow deck 13mm

Fore upper deck 19mm

Mid section upper deck 38mm

Main belt 114mm

Aft upper deck 19mm

Stern/stern deck 13mm

Citadel fore/aft deck 38mm

Cidatel mid section deck 9mm

Citadel fore bulkhead 51-38mm

Citadel aft bulkhead 51-38mm

Superstructure 10mm

 Belfast

Bow/bow deck 13mm

Fore upper deck 19mm

Mid section upper deck 51mm

Main belt 114mm

Aft upper deck 19mm

Stern/stern deck 13mm

Citadel fore/aft deck

-over magazine 76mm

-over machinery 51mm

Citadel mid section deck 6mm

Citadel fore bulkhead 63mm

Citadel aft bulkhead 63mm

Superstructure 10mm

Yes Belfast is having better armor, but by how much?

All Brit cruisers engage at a really close distance so you can't penetrate their deck without overmatching. And what's the difference between 38mm and 76mm in overmatching? 38mm can be overmatched by any gun's AP with caliber larger than 543.4mm, for 76mm it's 1086.8mm. But we only get 460mm max in the game except April Fools' event. So not much difference.

As for the bulkhead, 63mm won't save you from being lolpen'd by battleship AP.

So for survivability, Belfast's armor advantage isn't significant.

Yes Fiji gets lower HP, but she also access repair party that Belfast don't.

But on the other side, Fiji can't have concealment module.

So which one is more survivable? I won't draw a conclusion here, each have their own advantage.

And also note this, Belfast's gun is different from Fiji's.

Belfast's AP

Projectile detonator 0.025
Detonator threshold 25

Fiji's AP

Projectile detonator 0.005
Detonator threshold 12

The difference is obvious, Fiji AP gets a more sensitive fuze, meaning less over pen.

Also their bounceoff angle is different. Fiji gets a better bounceoff angle, meaning you can penetrate angled ship better than Belfast can.

Which one for me? Of course both, I like collecting ships

Belfast if you are a no skill idiot that only cares about winning

Fiji if you are good

A no skill commander can't play Belfast well, I've seen one Belfast being at the hands of a no so skilled captain. The Belfast popped his smoke before slowing down so it stopped outside of the smoke. He had to accelerate again and was concentrated and sunk soon after.

A Belfast requires you at least have a precise control of when to pop smoke, too early you get out, too late you get only one puff that leaves you little to no space for moving. You also need to take advantage of the islands to block shells and get close, also try to out smart enemy DD trying to give you some torp surprise. If you play solo you also need to learn how to avoid getting hit, as you can't get a non-stop smoke and people will concentrate upon you. You will have to learn torp beating again, as Brit cruisers' maneuvering feels totally different. A clear mind aware of the situation is also required, as you can't use torps to stop people from rushing your smoke and sometimes you will have to give up your smoke puff and move on. Gunnery skills is also important, the 152mm guns have bad ballistics and shell speed. You may also need to learn some radar cruiser skills, as Belfast's fully upgraded concealment is 8.7km but you onky get 8.4km radar, so you need to move up a few hundred meters before popping your radar.(unlike chapayev's detected→pop radar way)
