Those with AFT and Manual AA Control

Then attract Saipan's plane on atlanta

and grab some popcorns while laughing at Saipan

Saipan is not so stupid :(

the simple fact is you cant  win against a AS Saipan because the Saipan has all the advantages particularly if they have a15 point captain

They have planes that move so much quicker it isnt funny they can re arm their planes from nearly anywhere in the map faster than you can get yours in position

Their speed means they dictate when and where all engagements takes place

The AA on the saipan will shred any planes it is likely to encounter you will only get a strike with 1 to 2 torp planes if your lucky

They can stafe you and you cant dodge thier strafes while they can and will dodge yours and strafe your planes out of the sky even with 2 planes.

Its a P2W ship pure and simple.

Saipan is strong but its not P2W. If he's playing AS then he can't do as much damage as a hiryu can. There is only so much a saipan can cover and extremely hard to stop strikes from a hiryu.

I’m a cry-baby Ranger player and here’s why

Plane for plane the Range and Saipan planes should have an even fight and this is how we think that the dogfight should turn out and play out during the game, plane for plane.

THIS NEVER HAPPENS! A single Vought x3 squadron always wipes out a whole Grumman x6 squadron every time or near enough to it, it’s not fair.

The game mechanics doesn’t decrement hit points on a one to one bases as above but on a RNG bases so to produce a variety of results, I agree with this but the Saipan squadrons values are set so high that Saipan always win, it’s extremely unfair. Also very unfair for a team without a Saipan.

Even if you outplay the Saipan fighters they’re so fast that they can race right across the map, covering up their mistakes and/or taking down all your returning squadrons, it's soooooo unfair.

Maybe Saipan on Saipan MM only or it should be move up one tier or be tiered with T8s on 50% MM basis, just to give a little bit of relief to the Range and Hiryu players. Saipan is too strong for T7 and something need to makeT7 carrier play fair.

It can be done And i did it for the first time against an Air superiority Saipan. then I looked up the player stats because it was notable.

The player is

with a 42 % win rate 500 battles a a bit more than 10 percent

No ships above T6 that are tech tree ships

Well below average with most ships average damage 15k for  all probably inexperienced

yet their win rate for the saipan was 55 % the average

they shot down around 25 planes on average

but their average damage was alot below the the average for the ship and their best was only 10 k above the average.

Now for How it was done and how everything had to go right

the battle was T7 with 2 CVs

The enemy team lemming trained at the start all going to one flank bar one or 2

I assisted the other CV with their strikes and escorted their planes while my strike went round  the empty flank

Found both CVs together no planes overhead attacked with DBs first while I got my TBs in position

They ran aground but my TBs were still getting in position to exploit

manage to get the TB strike down after they used damage control and before their planes strafed mine out of the sky.

Lost all TBs 3 torps hit 2 floods DBs lost 75 percent of the squadrons. They then flood to death.

Exactly. And if the Saipan is not an idiot he will dictate the fighter engagements... Unfortunately they can't nerf or buff premium ships

They can buff everything else to match premium ships though.

In order to fight a Saipan you first have to destroy the notion of winning the air comfortably. Fighting a Saipan head on in an air battle is obviously a downhill battle and anyone would do well to win in other aspects.

In a Hiryuu, sure you can do so quite possibly win the air but it requires the Saipan player to be lesser skilled than you at handling his fighters. Against a captain of close enough skill or better that can control his fighters well, prepare to lose your planes. You can only mitigate it to a degree or delay it as long as possible. :hiding:

What you do better however is having a better strike potential against ships. So use your fighters for that purpose in locking or chasing away the Saipan's fighters which threaten your bombers rather than use your fighters in achieving general air superiority. So you should polish on your strikes and do as much effective damage as possible until you inevitably lose all your planes.

Do it well enough and you may have amassed a better influence on the battle than the Saipan will hope to catch up.

Decoy squadrons.

Split your groups.

2 FT escorting 2 TB is guaranteed to get a lot of attention. Just hover them over reliable friendly AA close to the frontlines until you see an opening. Meanwhile, send DBs to harass destroyers or ships without much AA. If the Saipan splits his FT attention onto your DBs, strafe/lock depending on the situation and strike with your TBs. The goal isn't to control the air or make the other guy run out of planes, it's to buy time for you to do your damage.

Alternatively, control all 6 squadrons independently. Requires a lot of micromanagement, will not allow you to strike high-AA targets effectively. Guarantees at least 1 squadron can attack. The idea is to force the Saipan to click on your squadrons and lead them to unfavorable situations while they focus their attention elsewhere.

No dogfighting expert, Saipan wins. Have dogfighting expert, Ranger wins.

I have an experience that my Independence fighters actually win Saipan fighters 1v1, with both of us have Air Supremacy skill. In fact, it took him almost all his 8 fighters to beat my 7 fighter squadrons.
