Without saying pay2win (just did - whoops) the premium cruisers available are currently better than their unlockable counterparts - look at the kut and chap for example, which is bad enough, then look at the kutozov compared to the new orleans.... they really need rebalancing.

 

Looking deeper cruisers currently don't cut their weight in combat for the most part. Even a small reduction in their surface/air visibility across the whole cruiser class might make them more combat effective.

 

DD/BB seems to be performing their role - however I would question the average income per game of a player running CA/CL by comparison - especially US CA/CL which the playerbase knows are not up to par.

MK47 is not so OP, you see. I know, da range and dem RoF, but her armor is- 1mm of talc. Also, firing 19 km with a so-so shell arc is hard, you need the RNGesus to agree with you, your luck and the skill.

 

For me, US CA line is painful, absolute pain. I know it has good armor, great citadel protection (whoops Pepsicola and New Orlan Orleans), and an AA that could produce fireworks, it has a Terrible Shell Arc which I have a very hard time hitting a target. Also no Torpedoes. I mean Torps are situational, even IJN CA's Torps is situational, but psychologically, it makes me feel safe for close quarters, and with IJN concealment I can fire-ninja-torp (Great risk to my citadel, and I usually fail :P)

 

What I'm trying to say here is CA lines, as the same as other lines, has pros and cons. US got impressive AA and citadel protection, but a meh shell arc. IJN Got ninja concealment really nice fire chances and torpedos, but a bleh  AA and lolwat citadel protection. KM as excellent AP velocity but HE and armor is meh. Russians?  OP Russian bias  Awesome gun and RoF with good penetration and damage output, while detectability is oTL and don't question its armor. (What the heck???)

 

So the amount of players is well, depends on what they like

 

I think cruisers are OK for now.

Let's not touch on Japanese HE in current iteration... doing insane HE damage instead of just above the average of other nations seems broken - zao for instance. the in-game performance of the myoko and mogami is super good currently.

 

talking about the cruiser line as a class and its in-game performance doesn't seem like they have a purpose though. good aa? 1 in many games you actually get to use that aa and its only to counter an enemy cv.

 

rethinking the playability of the cruiser class in general I guess is the suggestion... just got carried away.

actually true that the Us crusier may need a rebalance soon but currently the has a mixture of escort Cls and some decent CAs but WG did say they will make a CL AND CA lines separate which may re balance them hopefully.

If you were around during CBT  you willl remember that rock-paper and scissors thing. 

 

Cruisers are supposed to blow up DDs but slaughtered by BB. Well right bow they can well, blowup anything they want cuz you know, HE rain spam. It can kill DDS easily sometimes with 1 salvo (cough mogami cough). For allies you go and cover DDs so they could cap, and provide cover fire and cruisers with decent AA could just escort BB. (Kinda hard, low CV population)

Personally, cruisers overall is fine

conk the US 203mm's cant HE spam because of that nasty 15 second reload thing remember?

 

mentioning the rock paper scissors thing russian destroyers at range can easily HE bleed most cruisers, especially at higher tier. 

 

still coming back to the cruiser game balance thing...

IJNs got 15 sec reload too, except Zao, maybe.

Don't forget, at 5-11 km range, USN AP really hurts.

 

Wait, I thought RU DDs would use AP against cruisers, I remember that they can pen.

 

Rock Paper Scissors is kimda lopsided. CV are suffering

Pfffttt.... If Cruiser isn't your type then play BB. Every ship require special skill of handling and using. Sure, some of them has low survivability but know how to cook plan ahead you can get good stuff. Just saying, if you going ahead straight then you can't even play anything anymore. Even a BB will wreck in a seconds.
