Saipan have T9 aircraft, even cleveland with aa power of 66 still not easy to shut down any of their plane

What is your decision when facing these enemy?

IJN Hiryu (312) aircraft power = 47

IJN Hiryu (222) aircraft power = 46

USS Saipan (301) aircraft power = 28

USS Saipan (220) aircraft power = 49

I never play CV, but never surrender is my motto. Fight till the last HP, in your case last plane.

My cleveland AA power is 75, that come in handy

anyway, i'm no CV player but if i'm on T6 or lower CV when facing saipan, i just hide my planes somewhere or put my planes over friendly cruisers for AA defense

Cruiser AA is weak. It is the defensive AA that cause trouble. Catch them without it, much easier target than a battleship. Also to maximize XP gain in short time, just bomb their DDs.

Ya even through they are very strong, I usually try to seek aa cover from my team, and try to send some plane toward the enemy to cover my teammate(This only applicable when act against saipan(220))

I know your point that some time i'll send some plane to fake them enable this function, and attack them when their aa return to normal alert.

301? Bait fighters into friendly boats.

202? CVcide.

If you still need help, go practice against fighter bogues.

-snip-

Other than the AA values seen before the match being somewhat arbitrary, just beat the Saipan out of it's own game.

As a Hiryuu or a Ranger against a Saipan, you've got to avoid playing the Saipan's game. It usually means stop trying to out-strafe Saipan fighters(assuming drivers of same skill). Just lock them up and use your bombers to do their job. Chances are, your fighters lose but your bombers will have already done their job. Whether they use 301 or 220 is inconsequential, unless you are using a 202 Ranger, you have a better bombing potential than a Saipan. Play to your strengths, it applies moreso for CV loadouts.

More or less that means losing the skies in time but you will do more damage than the enemy Saipan. Making every second or bombing run count will of course be up to the CV driver.

tl;dr: Why even give up when you have an advantage?

Channel your inner Russian and meditate with the magic 'Russian words' at the back of your head.

Channel your inner IJA and pretend your fighters have bayonets to charge with.

Channel your inner German and believe in your own tactical superiority.

Channel your inner American and believe you will always win.

I play div with him and that is exactly his nature. He falls asleep in the middle of games when he plays CVs.

I have another weird suggestion. It might work.

Play "Two Steps from Hell" tracks in the background. They are epic and will help you to unleash the inner beast in you. (Try some in youtube, you will like them).

I  keep my TBs escorted and as  soon as I spot his planes the fighters break off to lock down his.  I usually escort my TBs anyways as they will gb the focus of all fighters.

I also try to pick targets closer to me than him so his planes have further to go.

keeping your  CV close to the action but not too close helps as long as you don't get spotted.

if fighters are in position to harass his bomber that will  hopefully distract him from you bombers  when they reveal themselves.

Sniping him is possible but hard to do as his AA is that good it really depends on how much space you have to sneak around some maps it is nearly impossible to sneak round the edges.

You need to counter the speed of its planes

If you're in a strike Ranger, just snipe the Saipan right away. Unless he's using AS loadout with 15-point captain, there is nothing he can do to stop your snipe.

Ranger planes are relatively slow and their DBs are the old, anemic ones. I would rather outdamage a Saipan than try to snipe it if I were in one. It is near impossible to do so IMO.

You expect me to win aerial superiority against a 3/0/1 Saipan with AS?
