Good day Captains! Have been doing some thinking about getting an Atlanta cause it would be a big help in earning those credits fast in getting to the next tier. I really like the quick reload on this baby but is it good enough to give me my money's worth? Kindly reply to this thread if you own an Atlanta and please indicate it's strong and weak points. Any info will be highly appreciated.

good agility..good RoF
the gun is not biting to much, the armour is poor.

american DD captain fit perfectl on her

tough.. if u are not accostumed with high tier battle, i'd more advicing u to take murmanks instead

First off, let's start with weak points...

- It's pretty short ranged for a CL, sure it's 11.1Km range but at T7 you'll be facing enemies that will outrange you way too easily

- It has the top spot for the least survivable ship in my collection, her armor is no good and her HP pool is something to cry at

- Guns get knocked out way too easy

- No catapult aircraft

- Sub-orbital shell arc, shells take time getting there (although this is considered a strong point since you can lob shells over islands way too easily thereby denying the enemy a chance to fight back, God knows I've abused this too many times)

 

Strong points

- So many guns!! SOOOO MAAAAANY GUUUUUUNS!!

- Highest DPM in game, no other ship can match it

- She's the only USN Cruiser after T5 that has torpedoes, note that these are panic/defensive 4km torpedoes

- Amaaaaaaazing AA (Mine's got a 79 AA rating you can get with AA upgrade module, AFT, and BFT)

- Amazing turret traverse (an absolute beast at close range, even better with EM)

- Her 127mm guns also benefit from BFT and AFT

- Pretty stealthy for a T7 CL at 11km detection range (see the correlation? you got 11.1km guns but get detected at 11km, be smart to use this as an ambush strategy)

 

Playstyle:

She a very eccentric ship to make it short, she's not to be played conventionally. You can either play as a surprise ambush ship hugging islands or as an AA escort for BBs and CVs. Don't be an idiot and play her aggresively right off the bat, wait for a while and play defensively until the match swings in your favor then you may go out there with guns blazing.

 

Getting Situational Awareness skill might greatly improve your survival chances. Remember, in this ship(especially this ship) you need meet the enemy in your own terms, not the other way around. If you're gonna be spotted because you opened fire, let it be that the enemy is at a disadvantage.

 

The way I play my Atlanta is as a defensive support AA ship that hunts destroyers and swats incoming aircraft with ease. I usually go up against Cruisers and BBs as a support ship going in with either other cruisers and BBs...

Atlanta, the bane of DDs and CVs. Firing your guns attract so much attention so hide in smokes and islands. In ocean map, you are a turkey. 1 HE shot ur gun dead. Ur gun goes to space. USN DD experience is gonna help you. HIgh difficult ship if you want high damage per game (doesn't suit my playstyle at least for me). If you're not ready for all of the above, don't buy.

you would be much better off in the T8 kutuzov in my opinion, but i digress

 

anyways atlanta has some cons to her

:beautiful ROF

:pretty good AA

:torps on a USN CA

 

but i think the cons on her far outweighs the pros

:suborbital gun arcs and just really low damage per round( compensated somewhat by the ROF)

:wet tissue armor

:gun turrets that WILL blow up in every game you play

:long and rather large hull and crap rudder

 

in real life, i've found the Atlanta really struggles to be effective, low damage for HE and low chance to set fire makes it hard to burn BBs, the 127 caliber turret cant hold up in a CA/CL dog fight against her peers at t7 or even ships of tier 6. as for the AA, while Atlanta has a large AA circle, the DPS on the guns just suck, especially after you lose a few turret.  DD hunting i also a jok because she cant hit the broadside of  barn from 11 miles away(her detection range) never mind a DD

 

my suggestion is that you buy the T8 prem CA Mikhal Kutuzov before the offer ends because she handles like the Atlanta with just about the same pros and cons but just handles much better in almost every way

 

FYI

offer for MK ends in 12 hours so u should hurry if you want to get it

It's a smoke screen boundary mod, it shows you the boundaries of your smoke screen, the smoke of team mates, and enemy smoke screens as well.

It's an approved mod that was built by a WG dev (if I remember correctly), and yes it is in Aslain's mod pack towards the bottom of the list. The current version is buggy still like what Harpoon01 stated, but it is a great mod for DDs if not a necessary one at that.

The smoke boundary mod is buggy AF... it works as intended yes and I can see how useful it is for DDs(extremely useful)... but it really screws up whenever there's a screen change so yeah better wait until it gets stable...

Thats why i use my instinct most of the time it worked, the rest ? quite not :D:D:D

today match, I'm in my fubuki... and I been surprised by Atlanta around the island

 

and all I can do is...

with fubuki speed (a slowest DD in game I think) I die miserably that match T_T
