I haven't pay much attention until just now.

last match, I'm in my fubuki and accidentally crash into friendly atago, we both try to navigate away. and our ship run parallel for a moment.

that when I notice that... "huh? why my DD are almost as big as cruiser???"

I though that because fubuki is big DD that's why she slow so I look into it....

IRL Atago (203 m) are almost twice longer from fubuki (112 m)!?

Is it just my imagination? or ship scale it really wrong??

training room has been disable so I can't get into compare it's size...

-edit-

oh! and... scale of a ship compare to those house we found on island too, is it accurate?

i know it's silly and not important, but I just want to know.

IIRC, the scale of the ships relative to each other are relatively accurate, but the ships themselves are scaled up to make them easier to see and target. The problem is that the latter causes the ships to look pretty odd next to each other because 1m is compressed by differing amounts on the ship and in the water.

the game viewpoint is like wide angle lens.

Object that is not in the center / focus get distorted and streched

the closer they to edge of the screen, it gets bigger and longger

maybe you need to check it with carrier view. since its top down flat

Ship scales are accurate relative to each other, is just the unconventional camera distortion that makes it look weird..

...except those land objects, where it makes cruisers look as big as cruise ships..

You see those tiny houses on the Northern Lights map? Hobbits live in those.

Jokes aside, between different ships the scale is accurate; your perception may be warped by the game aim camera, which uses a wider angle and shows closer objects to be larger in size. For an accurate comparison of ship sizes, use the top-down view you get when controlling aircraft carriers.

Yeap, it's one of those good old Jonathan Frakes/Beyond Belief tricks.

Also I was watching a Dev blog the other day and they were saying that the ship sizes compared to the environment were Twice the size they would normally be. They have done this so that the map is a bit more congested and allow the games to move quicker.

well is it real that my cleveland is as almost 98 percent the same size as the nagato?

then the  US could/should have made cleveland into a battlecruiser!!   just replace its turrets into a new orleans turrets and bam!!!

This is how ships capsize.

^Well those Japanese Heavy Cruisers are a prime example of being top heavy aren't they?

Also the Mogami's are almost as big as the Kongo Class (201m vs 214m) and are more useful for that matter too

Gun size isn't everything
