Heck, as far as I'm concern let them try the radar for a bit, anything to stop this crazy DD meta that has been around in high tier since it released. And if it messes up the MM more than what is now then they can go back or do what WG is famous for... BALANCING!!!

 

Besides, you are all acting like this radar will be active 24/7, from what we heard it will only last 30-40 secs, and since it's a consumable it most likely can only be used 3-4 times with a cool down of roughly 5+ minutes (that is if they base it off of the current consumables, could be different).

Exactly.  It's something that requires no skill and is a hard counter, not really well designed.  A continually spotted DD at sub-10kms is dead.

 

I like the idea of it though, but I think a better implementation would be that while active any enemy ships within the radar range appear on the minimap of everyone on your team.  That is a better in game representation of radar, and it means that if you want to find that ship you know exactly where to go, but you have to actually get into spot range to see it.

 

Every DD player knows you shooting torp at 10 km is like winning a lotto... I guess it is a goof thing that I stopped playing DDS and pickup chap and German BB early lol

Q. Lately, there are a lot of DD's in battles (5-6 per team) and few BB's (1-2). What do you think about this situation and do you plan to reduce the number of DD's per battle?

A. My opinion is as follows: 3-4 DD/CA-CL/BB is standard. 5-6 of any class is too much. However, this is not a critic. That said, I can foresee and answer your next question: we also don't like "torpedo walls" (called "torpedo soup" in RU) from 5 Shimakazes.

Regarding our plans to solve this issue: first, wait for Soviet cruisers, it's likely they will affect DD population. After that, we still have a couple of ideas but we'd like to implement them bit by bit.

 

Will the Radar + Soviet Cruiser be the awaited mesiah ?

DD should be able to carry Sonar

so DD can hunt each other, and not just pasively lurking waiting torpedoes CD

 

it was stupid not to, because Destroyer main job is screening fleet for enemy submarine, so almost every single destroyer in ww2 carry Sonar ranging equipment (The united states is exception though, since every single destroyer carry them for escort duty)

 

Too many ships of a particular class is mainly a matchmaking issue  WOWS should improve on that. And isn't it true that the rise in DD population is due to WOWS very own introduction of new DD branches?

Oh wow looking back at last year we actually adapted to this radar thing now, feels old man.

 

Also I believe we would adapt to this RPF/RDF/RL and when we see the thread next year we all just laugh at how stupid we were back then because there would be another thing that broke the game (again) :trollface:

Tell that to the IJN DDs with 10km torps as their max. 8km with the Yuugumo.

Yeah I'm IJN DD main I have little to no problem with Radar or RPF in normal 12v12 Random Battle

Yeah that's because they deleted my old Mutsuki Hatsuharu Fubuki and Kagerou stats those worth like 300 games

When was the torp range nerf anyway? Based on the first few post of this thread, the 15 and 20km torps were still in the game then and how many of those 300 games did you play before they removed them?

It's not the torp range nerf, it's the detection nerf for 20km torpedoes. I don't remember if I ever played Shimakaze before that but I'm sure played Kagerou 20km for several games before F3 come and I use it instead.

In any case my Akatsuki and Yuugumo is kinda under pressure of radar and sonar alot, also I use Torpedo Acceleration in Akatsuki so it is inside the radar range.
