Been a question of thought, Which cruiser is your most favorite one in tier and why, everyone has their own opinions so lets not go degrading other's view?

Be it IJN, USS, Germany, Poland, USSR, Indo-china

Any Tier from I to X

What role do you in general play as, would it differ in different outcomes or you would just do what you want to do?

Mines the:

Tier 7 Premium USS Atlanta, reason why she be my favorite cruiser is the ROF since ive loved ships that fire rapidly and she was one of my fav's in Battle-stations Pacific, i know the guns aren't a big deal of dmg dealing but the the amount of shells in the air never cease to amaze me.

Yea there are pro's and cons of driving a Atlanta, but at the end its the cruiser i enjoy using the most, its all about enjoying your ship in the game.

Role:

Depends on situation base,

#:If CV's are generally involved i tend to stay back and be a AA escort be it for a BB or CV or just DD hunter roaming near BB or CV, i don't really get into combat unless a threat emerges.

#:Other cases ill just pair up other Cruisers or BB and provide HE shelling support or cover fire/decoy or suggesting what we should do as a plan.

Whats your own opinions?

USN Cruisers, despite IJN cruiser being better well rounded in terms of armament, armor and all, US cruisers have better gun firing angles which allow them to fire nearly all guns while remaining angled, unlike the IJN ships. German cruisers are all made of paper and are pretty much glass cannons.

The sub orbital shellfire arc is bearable and while it takes getting used to, is not bad when you can lob shells over tall islands

US, GER AND JP cruisers.

I do have Diana on this and Murmansk on my NA account, do I guess you could count RU in, too.

As for why, US cruisers are great jack of all trade ships with good HE, AP and AA.

IJN ships have very good AP but can still do some good with HE.

GER cruisers are badically CLs until high tiers, and who wouldn't love high mobility and firepower?

Diana has 14km firing range at tier two.

Murmansk is an Omaha.

Role depends on the situation.

the one i play the most (now) is the MK, i racked up over 250 matches on her now, the reason that i love this ship so much is it's high ROF, insane pen on it's AP shells, pretty high chance of fire, and awsome range on both main guns and AA turrets

when i play the MK, i'll try to stay with the main fleet and cover them in my 7.2km AA, but if a see a lone CA. i'll go hunt it down cuz my AP can pen anything below a ZAO

too bad this ship is made of cardboard, it feels like pepsicola all over again, gettin lolpened by any BB i see

I've gone up all three lines personally. However, I stopped at Cleveland after unlocking the Pensacola and taking my time on the Aoba. However, It's the KM line I'm concentrating on because it suits my style of play with ships having accurate fire. I'm a few thousand XP from unlocking the Roon and will get to the Hindenberg as my first tier X ship.

That's a bit tricky... It's up to personal preference mostly... If I'm feeling a little aggresive I go for my Omaha(V), Murmansk(V), or Cleveland(VI)... If I'm feeling a little cautious KM ships are the order of the day... I'm grinding my Konigsberg(V) which I'm currently swept head over heels after really learning her proper play style...

As for roles, I mostly stick by to supporting BBs by laying down fire to whatever they're shooting, swatting opportunistic DDs, swatting annoying planes, and being aggresive should the need or the opportunity arise...

Once I get my Nurnberg and build her up and train her captain... I'm gonna stop there and start a new line on the IJN cruisers...

Hindenburg and German CAs in general because they can hit hard where you least expected..

Broadside against Hindenburg on a BB? Nah he's just a CA nothing will happ... BOOM 15k AP damage

That Hindenburg is 16+ km away, he can't citad... BOOM Devastating Strike

They are more battleship than cruiser.. I play them as flanking force, striking enemy broadsides while they confront my main fleet..

Killing off cruisers and getting BBs attention so they shift focus on me, then my fleet can hit back..

I used to really like Nurnberg. But now the community gets better at playing the game so its kinda hard to find cruisers that would show their belly in AP range. Not to mention that I'm not really good at gunning people down in long range(in fear of getting detected and having Battleships go all berserk at my general direction).

So now I just use ships like Aoba(my ol' faithful), Yorck(I actually like this thing now) and sometimes Cleveland(or as i'd like to call it, my Pyromaniac AA ship).

German cruisers are now my favorite, they hit like a truck in close range and have torpedoes to scare others. They also have fearsome fire rate and GERMAN QUALITY sonar, so LOOK OUT DDs. Did I mention that they have excellent speed and arcs as well? Damn, the only things that holds these monsters back are their slow speed, bad AA(at this point i never try to bring AA consumables anymore) and fragile engines(Don't trust anything lower than a Yorck to have reliable module resilience).

I unlocked, then fully upgraded my Roon. My first battle in it...wow. When looking at it I thought it was a very big Nurnberg. Being big...I thought it would be a slow reacting heavy cruiser. Oh how wrong I was. This thing turns like a light cruiser. It makes the Hipper seem like a battleship with its response time. And those guns...I'm using the lower reload time mod and it reloads in 8.2 seconds. That's a lot of HE or AP down range in a hurry. And you're right about the AP on the high tier KM cruisers. I hit a North Carolina showing me its broadside and did 12k when 6 of 9 hit. This ship is a beast, fast and superbly maneuverable. I dodge more torpedoes in this one battle than I've seen in 3 (not counting a tier X with Shimas in it.). I cannot wait to get the Hindenberg that's for sure. Once I get that 5th skill for concealment, this will be one sneaky monster raining death. :) (Or so I hope.) I'm thoroughly impressed with the Roon. Yes I know 1 battle, but after 91 in the Hipper, I was completely surprised in how this ship operates. The final ships in the KM cruiser line make the grind worth it, that's for sure.

What's your take on the Yorck? being that I'm getting settled quite well with the Konigsberg and the I need 2K more XP to get the Nurnberg, I am quite looking favorably at the Yorck... I've gathered quite a lot of negatives on the net but they're all pretty dated, what's she like now? I need to know since the skill nerf for 150mm guns has me considering getting a CA these days...

Yorck eh? With my current knowledge I feel that the Yorck is the ultimate surface combat cruiser in T7. Your excellent ROF, torpedoes and sonar make you a threat even scarier than destroyers to anything that gets within 6 km range. If you Aim your AP shells at an enemy battleship at close range, you can actually get 4k damage...

But remember, your less than optimal AP shell speed makes long distance marksmanship rather challenging.

Yet this setback if offset with the excellent range that Yorck has. Your HE is very good for harassing enemy capital ships and picking off destroyers.

Point is, you can screw anything but an AIRCRAFT carrier. I recommend you bring a friend or two so that you don't die from airplanes.

Hindenburg FTW, its a mini BB =D. It hits hard and is better than the Zao imo.

Khabroksvi as a light cruiser that does hit and run.

Slam

your post about the hindenburg is 50 percent true

and ow about the cleveland

that ship can burn your ship all day long

it's kinda like .shoot all you want and burn them party turn them into a grilled metallic fish with a hot sauce on it

and i wish the cleveland will be a battlecruiser if she got upgraded in ww2 with something heavy

because it seems that cleveland has the battleship size

That's useful information and thanks for sharing... but what of her maneuverability? Is she good on the turn? Does she pick up speed well?

Nope. This thing is not as mobile as other cruisers in her tier. I'd stay away from situations that require a lot of dodging if i were you. But still, she has decent maneuverability if you upgrade its hull and rudder shift time.

It seems that the higher tier German ships have a much slower rudder than their USN and IJN counterparts. The Yorck has 11s stock rudder and 8s with the upgraded hull (9s and 6.5s respectively with the steering gears upgrade) but wow the stock Hipper has a 15s rudder shift.

I just made the mistake of getting into the Pensacola...what a piece of scat. I'll probably not advance down the US CA line because this one I just cannot stomach...hell, the Yorck is superior to this thing.

I'm stopping at the Cleveland and switching (switched) to the German and Japanese CA lines, I find Hindenburg and Zao to be better then Des Moines in almost all aspects of game play. (and before someone says I don't have them, please remember I am a Super Tester, and these two are my preferred Tier X Cruisers)
