I saw it on the website that the new Soviet tier 8 cruiser Mikhail Kutuzov will be available in the premium shop today, but it didn't happen and the announcement is gone too, what happened? I want to buy this ship , it looks so cool:child:

A "Legend"??

Maybe in the ex-USSR but certainly not everywhere else in the world of naval legends!

So....this raises the question - do we now see more post-WW2 ships enter WoWs?

The 'Enterprise', perhaps?

That's a legendary ship, if ever there was one.

USS Enterprise (CV-6) known as the Gray Ghost, is a WW Carrier of the Yorktown Class Served in WW2.  The Post WW2 Version you probable referring to is the USS Enterprise (CVN-65) the 1st Nuclear powered Aircraft Carrier.    We will most probably see the Former then the Latter in the form of a premium ship, as the CVN-65 planes, will most definitely be OP.

As I mentioned.....hardly "legendary".

Here's Wikipedia's description:-

=====================================================

The Sverdlov-class cruisers, Soviet designation Project 68bis, were the last conventional cruisers built for the Soviet Navy, in the 1950s. They were based on Italian pre-Second World War concepts and designs, but modified to be more seaworthy and able to run fast in the rough waters of the North Atlantic. They also carried an extensive suite of radar gear and anti-aircraft artillery in keeping with other post-war designs.

The Soviets originally planned to build 40 of the class, which would be supported by the Stalingrad-class battlecruisers and aircraft carriers. This represented a significant risk to the Royal Navy, especially in the North Atlantic. They responded by introducing the Blackburn Buccaneer, a strike aircraft that had the performance to attack the Sverdlovs with impunity. When the building program was cut back and the battlecruisers and carriers were cancelled, the Sverdlovs were left dangerously unprotected outside the cover of land-based aircraft. Operating on their own as commerce raiders they would be extremely vulnerable.

Construction was cancelled by Nikita Khrushchev in 1954 after 14 examples had been completed. Two additional hulls were scrapped on the slip and four partially complete Sverdlovs launched in 1954 but were scrapped in 1959. The remaining fleet remained in service through the 1970s when the underwent a limited modernization program, before finally leaving service in the late 1980s.

Only Mikhail Kutuzov is preserved, in Novorossiysk.

=======================================================

In fact, significantly un-noteworthy!

Why on earth have the developers put this thing up on a pedestal?:amazed:

Russian Bias

Aaah, yes! Of course.

Now it makes sense......well, sort of.

There are so many noteworthy warships of many nations available - ships that actually existed in real-life rather than as design studies - that I have to wonder why they don't tap that knowledge base?

Just during WW2 alone there were a vast number of combatant's ships from which to choose -  from Germany, France, Italy, Britain and her Commonwealth, Japan, the USA.

And then look at the number of vessels that were underway at war's end and on into 1946/47.....cripes...there is a heap of material available without bringing in a nondescript Soviet-era vessel.

From what I saw of the ship being tested on the live server vs me, it didn't impress at all.

But considering they were still "testing" it, less than 24hrs before release, then the fact that it's Russian stronk, and a new prem that they want lots of money for and it must sell many units, they will probably release it OP, then after a while, perhaps nerf it back a little bit, perhaps. Russian prem tanks tend to stay stronk for a very long time.

The tirpitz came out with huge hype, was devastating for about 2 weeks, then got hit with a huge nerf bat and "oops we accidentally broke the AP, we are working on figuring out what happened". Then they broke it again, and again, keeping the tirpitz crappy, cries of "tirpitz noob" were flung everywhere, even in this direction, when the truth was always out there, but those were ignorant to it.

The fix yesterday made such an OBVIOUS change in performance. We must remember, the nation the machine belongs to, means everything in WG.

In short will I get one?. I don't play cruisers, don't like spamming 1000 HE rounds per battle, I might wait for a tier 8 dd.

I might, might not, 50/50. I'd like to know all stats first, RoF is a biggie for a cruiser, turret turn time, AA, torps, as I've realized lately my tirpitz AA is crap yet high rated.

The Tirpitz was never touched. She is the same as she always has been.

Considering its easier for RUSSIAN developers to visit a ship located in RUSSIA to get the actual modelling done than to travel to the USA and dig through the archives on the Enterprise...

I can see where they are coming from. Also the RUSSIAN playerbase is the most paying one so... Cater to the demand.

All battleships got nerfed when the AP bug happened (that was fixed FYI)

But hey your precious little queen is more important than any other BB so it was clearly 100% a direct nerf to the Tirpitz and the Tirpitz only.

All the other BBs were not affec- NO I DONT WANT TO HEAR YOUR LIES!!! ALL BBS WERENT TOUCHED!! ONLY THE TIRPITZ WAS NERFED AND NOW ITS CRAP I WANT MY MONEY BACK!!!

Something of that degree?

The devs will never nerf a premium unless they absolutely have too, otherwise they will lose money when they offer obligatory refunds for the nerf, well going by WoT business practices anyhow.

The Mikhail Kutuzov looks pretty average to me, but having a 6" gun cruiser at this tier may indicate WG may add the Town or Crown Colony Class cruisers of the Royal Navy at this tier as well, given the same lack of Modern Heavy Cruisers in the Royal Navy

Don't be bloody ridiculous! "Travel to the USA"!!!

They can sit on their bums in Kiev or St. Petersburg 24 hours a day and get as much information as they'll ever need ..... and it's not as if it is restricted.

And then there's the fact that the physics modelling used in WoWs bears little resemblance to reality so the only "research" would be for graphics. They can make up the rest.

its a pure support ship with a monster AA suite. Don't try and yolo with it as you won't get far. Escort Battleships or perform AA picket duty as the ship can very easily knock tier X carrier planes out of the sky with little effort at all with defensive fire active. Rely on firing AP unless Destroyers are nearby, HE shell damage is quite low even on superstructure hits. Carries a high fire chance of 12% however.

Anyone tried the ship? is it good?

Monster AA, it basically makes every US CA T8 and above irrelevant..

Knocks out T9 & T10 CV planes better than other with AA barrage active and laugh at lower tier CVs..

It's good (I would say very good, or maybe even great, but that would only attract flaming from people who probably don't even own it). The key to success, like any other Premium ship, is to play it strictly to the strength of it's characteristics. It works very well in support, particularly if you can work your way around to a flank, and is also reasonably effective against DDs, even if caught on your own and in close.

However, like everything, sometimes you will have some horror battles. Beware being caught the focus of any BB, but it has the smoke consumable, which provides a little extra flexibility.

I bought it and I am really enjoying it.

Hell, I would buy this ship as it is the same class as the biggest warship ever operated by my country navy up until now. Think it as a weaker Mogami or tier 8 Cleveland with torpedoes.

And BTW, it is by no means un-noteworthy class, as it sistership the Ordzhonikidze was quite famous as during 1956 Nikita Khrushchev visit to Great Britain, the misterious "Crabb affair" happened. If you are a fan of 'cloaked and dagger' action probably you would hear about it.
