Hello guys,

By now you will have already read the patch notes of client version 5.1.4 before reading this and the interesting part of it was the news that Wargaming will be adding a Tier 8 Soviet Premium cruiser, which although still a mystery for now has got my attention as the Soviets in WW2 had no comparable Heavy Cruisers that were built. While they did have the Kirov class light cruiser, to me it represents a tier 5 or tier 6 ship because of its armament and armour and although the Soviets did have post war gunned Cruisers, all sported a rather Cleveland level armament of 9-12 6inch Guns. So what is this cruiser, a 6inch gunned post-war cruiser or a new imaginative paper ships concept??

Any thoughts Gentlemen??

The leaked information on the new soviet cruiser has been out for weeks on Reddit and armored patrol websites.Even lists all the stats on the ship.

Stats that are still subject to change.

So, they are going to introduce post-World War 2 warships to face off against World War 2 time-period warships? I guess it's good to be Russian!

This is not new...

WoT is all over the shop with tank years, and even WoWS is all over the shop.

It's because they base tiering on the ship stats and config not the year they were released. Because if they did it on the year, IJN in WoWS and Germans in WoT would basically own the entire game until 1944-5.

If that's the case then they should have put the Alaska-Class heavy/battlecruisers in the game at tier 10. And pushed the others down a tier removing the Pensacola or putting it at a tier less than the Cleveland and removing one of the lower tiered cruisers.

If anything it'd be in a BB line, as it's 305mm's and ~30k tonnes mean that it's not really a CA it's a BC.

ie. Des Moines is ~20k tonnes with 203mms

Ibuki is ~15k tonnes with 203s

Admiral Hipper is ~16k tonnes with 203s...

That's a thought...maybe they can replace the Colorado with it! :D

In any case its gonna be the least powerful tier 8 Cruiser because of having only 12X6" guns compared to 15X6" of Mogami, 8X8" of Hipper and 9X8" of the New Orleans
