Unbalanced play

A number of times now im finding that with larger battleships that many games I do not even get to see another enemy ship nor shoot at one as carrier torps manually drop really close in three or so salvos.

Too close to maneuver, which im finding a little unfair. Also these large battleships have such lame AA defense. After three or four torp salvos launched at very close range the opponents planes  are untouched 8 times out of 10.

What is the resolve?

Seems to be just luck that you are not picked on early in a game.

Yeah does not really work out irl that way when most games are just "everyone for themselves".

A cruiser having better AA than a battleship with allot more deck surface area seems a bit odd.

This still does not excuse the fact that a plane takes little to no damage at point blank range from battleship AA.

Advantage of a cruiser is its speed over a battleship. To escort a battleship with a cruiser kinda defies the point of its advantage.

you wrong.

Cruiser's AA always be weaker than their BB counterpart.

its just that cruiser Tier6++ have consumable that boost their AA rate for several seconds.

without that AA barage. cruiser's AA is more lame than the BB.

btw. if u are taking a BB line. upgrade your HULL as soon as possible before any other upgrade.

hull upgrade gives u more HP. More AA. and gun upgrade (for IJN line)

Myogi C/Kongou C has pretty good AA. its not as good as T6+ CA/CL with barage. but it did its job pretty well against T4/5 CV.

dont expect an AA for single ship to shoot down all of the planes. since its not designed that way.

Just wish at such close range that BB would take down at least one plane in such close proximity.

Still even with all hull upgrades the AA seems overly weak.

None of this helps when you get taken out before seeing any opponents.

You could argue AA performance all day but the fact of the matter is a decent carrier can take out the best battleships within the first minute of gameplay with nill resistance...

As you go up in tiers in BB's, the AA increases.

North carolina's AA at tier 8 is pretty impressive, and as long as you target the incoming TB's or DB's you can take out most of the squadron and only have to deal with a couple of incoming torps/bombs.

Warspite's AA at tier 6 is also good. If you want better AA performance, you will need the Advanced firing training skill for your captain.

Then things get really interesting.

When i use my Atlanta CL for AA.  I usually escort CVs up to tier 8 and US BBs from tier 5 -7 for an added AA Defense, which is pretty effective for the indicated tiers.  I noticed, for US bbs below 8, a dedicated AA escort really helps.

Also remember to turn towards torpedo bombers when they get within 5-6km range.

That way you will have more time to use your AA guns, and also makes it easier to miss the torps coming at you, you also have higher chance of only being hit by 1-2 torps instead of the 4-6 torps.
