  1. This is addressed to Wargaming Developers and Staff. Why have Wargaming Decided to put HMAS Vampire II in the Research Bureau? Before you answer consider these two points; Regardless of whether you think it’s a good or bad idea to have ships in the Research Bureau, the Research Bureau is one for the harder and more intensive ways in the game to unlock ships. Requiring 5 lines up to T10 to access, it has a high starting gate, and from there it requires a significant amount of time and/or money to unlock a ship. Equal to at least two tech tree grinds from T1 to T10. It is far more intensive than earning Coal or Free XP, and is such that only veteran players, those with a lot of time and/or money will be able to access those ships. That in itself, may not necessarily be a bad thing, but let’s look at HMAS Vampire II, soon to be offered for 55,000 Research Points. This is a real ship, a ship that was built and served in the Royal Australian Navy. A Ship which is now a museum ship at the Australian National Maritime Museum, Sydney. There are many players who have a connection to this ship. This is the first T10 ship for the Commonwealth. There are only 4 other Commonwealth ships in the game, all premiums (Vampire-T3, Perth-T6, Mysore-T6, Haida-T7). There is no Tech Tree for the Commonwealth, no other high tier Commonwealth ships available, this is it. Bearing these two points in mind, I ask again; Why have Wargaming Decided to put HMAS Vampire II in the Research Bureau? Why have Wargaming decided to snub Australia this way? All other nations with ships in the Research Bureau have their own tech trees, their own high tier FXP and Coal ships. Even if Colbert was also a real ship, the French at least still have other T10 tech tree and coal ships. So, Why? @mademoisail and any other WG devs or staff in the know.
  2. While Research Bureau is massively unpopular among the player base yet WG is adamant that it would stay, I would like to present a suggestion to make R.B a bit more palatable. The current mechanic to access R.B is to get a certain number of Tier Xs, then reset a specific line back to Tier I and that would give R.B Points. The problem with this mechanic is that players don't like resetting all the way back to square 1 just to get a few points and have to grind again back to Tier X to repeat the cycle, and such grind might be painful as the meta had shifted so much that a line that is reset might not withstand against said meta. So, to make it less painful and hopefully, make R.B a little bit more desirable to the eyes of the player base, here's my suggestion for a new mechanic: 1.) All Elite XP of a certain line shall be converted into R.B points; 2.) The rate of conversion is different for each tier; and 3.) The limit is that the line should reach Tier X first-whether it is Researched or Owned before doing the conversion. This does two things: 1.) Players keep their hard-earned ships in their port; and 2.) Players can now grind for R.B points at their own set pace. Any criticism is welcome as this is just a suggestion of mine.
  3. WG basically conceding to players that their glorious Naval Training Center (NTC) has gloriously failed to meet player expectation and population. So they are giving the "NTC Points" for free. But you have to work for it. https://worldofwarships.asia/en/news/sales-and-events/missions-095-weekly-2/ Still ignoring the fact that the Naval Training Center (NTC) is never a good idea and was never liked, even before it was renamed (Not Reworked as promised). A gentle harsh reminder to WG. And look at those comments. Note: Only players who has unlocked Naval Training Center (NTC) is eligible to earn them. Players who has not yet unlocked Naval Training Center [five T10 ships] will not be eligible to collect these resource. Kind of discriminatory to other players. Note: Now that unique upgrade is put inside in this mechanic, this thus complete the original idea / plan of "Naval Training Center (NTC)". Where players must re-gring / re-crawl in order to get the "buff". It no longer deserve the name "Research Bureau (RB)" A good idea on Call of Duty does not mean it is a good idea on World of Warships. Do not copy other's work. Know your product. Study the risks and feedbacks before implementing.
  4. Just started a new YouTube series... First Episode is on Research Bureau... WARNING: Does contain harsh language!
  5. So, Research Bureau is with us, and after a long dark 5 minutes of soul searching, I did a thing. Burn me at the stake if you will... I'd still prefer they had designed it differently for the wider player base, but for me, my thoughts go like this: 1. I have 15 T10 ships. Some of them I go weeks or months without playing. I can live without 1 or 2 for a while. 2. I want the Colbert and Ohio 3. I have 1.2 million Free XP stockpiled 4. I like mid tier gameplay and have kept some mid tier ships with perma camo and dedicated captains for jus this reason. So, I decided I'd like to revisit some mid tier IJN torpedo boat play, and also get back the Kitakaze for Ranked. I have perma camos for Fubuki (T6), Kagero (T8), Kitakaze (T9), Shimakaze (T10), and 2 x 19 point captains , a 16 point captain and a 12 point captain, all specced for IJN torp / gun boats, 12 million credits and a fair stockpile of flags. So I hit "RESET" for the IJN gunboat line for x2 points, and the IJN torp boat line. I used FXP to skip T1-5, (a nice 2 for 1 FXP skip on T1-4) did a single co-co in the Hastuharu, then FXP 'd it as well. I also FXP'd the Fubiki A hull and torp upgrade, because 6km torps on a torp boat is just miserable. 1.5 days later I've used a bunch of flags to grind the Shiratsuyu (lots of fun, even with just a 12 point captain... I'd forgotten how scary a no-smoke torp-boat is without RPF as an early warning). Then I FXP's past Akizuki with a single co-op game, and now I'm grinding Kitazake in ranked with a perma camo and 19 point captain. With Fubuki I'm using her old 16 point captain and perma camo, and just chipping away 1 daily win at a a time. I'll FXP past Akatsuki when I get there (just a co-op game for the RB points again) because its a miserable boat with bad concealment and bad guns. I plan to grind the rest of the line in game, as Kagero and Yugumo are both fun with torp-reload booster. Situation report: 5 days in: I've burned about 250k FXP, with only one big FXP skip left to pay for. I've thrashed my stockpile of economic flags, but still have some left for a further surge after ranked. I've got 18500 RB points. Kitakaze has all modules unlocked and 45K / 223K ship XP earned. Fubuki I've spent no flags or camos on, she has all modules unlocked and 24K / 63K ship XP earned. By the time 3 months have passed I'll easily finish re-grinding both lines, will have 40K RB points and will be ready for a final push up a 3rd line for 20K RB points to get the reward ship. Thoughts: Spending some FXP is a good idea. FXP'ing the whole thing is only for CC's with 100 million credits and 10 million FXP in the bank. Regrind something you enjoy. Regrinding 2 lines which split below T6 saves you a bit of FXP skipping the low tiers only once. Permacamos can save you a lot. The biggest XP cost, and the fastest XP earning is at T9. Choose a line with a playable and enjoyable T9, and plan to grind all of the T9 ship XP in game. You will also spend about 15 million credits regrinding a line, so try to have a head-start in the bank there too. Other lines I'd consider (based on the fun factor of the T9 ship ahead of the other considerations): USN DD's Pan Asian DD's (but the captains get messy across T6-8) French BB's UK DD's Russian DD's (Ognevoi branch, maybe both?) maybe USN CA's maybe IJN CA's maybe Russian BB's
  6. Yep, WG do it again. Rushing contents and new economy with *cough* Thunderer *cough* and Colbert. Seriously ? I don't felt worth it because why we want to do this ? Just to get a ship ? Why not implement it in the existence resources ? WG seem rushing contents in one years just give me the feeling they will cash grab another opportunities as well. ( and this game got younger players base than Wot )
  7. First of all… SAY NO TO NTC/RESEARCH BUREAU Are we good now? Okay, let’s begin. We have so many different currencies in the game already. A few are “core” or “basic”: Credits, Free XP, Captain XP. Real money currency: Doubloon. “Basic” special currency that can be earned by playing normally: Coal. “Special” currency that can be earned through PvP-focused modes: Steel. Credits, Free XP, Doubloon, Coal and Steel are ‘permanent’ currencies because they will always be earnable and usable regardless of time, while event-specific currency that can only be earned and used during certain events. They are thematic and the types of rewards should be flexible. Each of those can be used for different things. Ships, specifically, can be bought with 5 ‘permanent’ currencies above. There are Credit ships, Doubloon ships, Coal ships, Steel ships, Free XP ships (and Coal /FXP ships). Isn’t that too many already? And now WG also want to create ANOTHER currency to buy ships with? As I have said in my thread yesterday, NTC/RB is a horrible way to get people to re-grind lines. The rewards have NOTHING to do with the ships being re-grinded, AND it also has NOTHING to encourage people to play low/mid-tier ships. The whole thing is just one big whale bait. Changing those ships into Steel ships with ridiculous price and selling Steel missions a few times a year is a faster and EASIER way to get cash. It’s already done before, all they have to do is to sell those missions more than once year, maybe once every quarter. Re-grinding lines has to reward players with things that they can use on their ships. Their TECH TREE ships. Their LOW/MID-TIERED TECH TREE ships. It’s pretty simple. Create a new resource (surprise, mofos). This resource can be earned by winning matches in T1-7 ships once a day. Create a new tab in the Arsenal. In this tab, using the new resource, players can buy stuffs like: + Premium camos for tech tree ships of Tier 1 - 7; + Limited quantity of Coal (3000) and Steel (400) (renew every Update); + One tech tree ship buying coupon (renew every 2 Updates), 15% off the Credit price. For T8 - 10 tech tree ships only. This does not stack with Update-specific discounts; + One Credit earning and one XP earning “Upgrades” for T1 - 7 tech tree ships camos (renew every 2 Updates). Each Upgrade can increase the credit/XP bonus of a premium camo by 10%. A camo can only be upgraded three times; + Nation and ship type-specific badges and badge backgrounds; + Visual elements/cosmetic items to mount on your ships, like the ship’s name, the player’s name, ship badges, etc.; PS. What is the point of researching modules except alternative modules (example: different torpedo options on IJN DDs)? What is the point of Hull B grind while people can buy a ship with her best hull from the moment of buying, while grind a bit more for the next ship? Why do you subject people to that pain while most Hull A and Hull B are ahistorical or very similar with each other? Easier to make clone premiums this way~
  8. I'm sure there have been other polls about this, and WG will not listen either way, but I was wondering...
  9. First, Let me say it first.... I DON'T LIKE IT AT ALL ... I HATE IT.... And we can't stop them now? If we can't really stop it then can I give you this idea for atleast change it to make us LESS SUFFERING from your BS. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Why do we have to reset the whole line for it? (Note : English is my second language so I might made some typo and grammar error) I have an idea where we don't need to reset the whole and grind the ship all over again. Why can't we just do something like "Collecting Base EXP for each ship in tech tree" ? Now let me explain. My idea is you don't have to reset the whole line but instead, You play to collect the base EXP to a certain point and then gain the "Research Point" by it for one of you ship. Once you get it in one of you ship. You can move to the diffent ships. Maybe lower down from T10 to T9. Once we finished all of the T10 ship. We will move down to other Tiers. Here some example. I play Yamato to collect Base EXP to a certain point (Let's say it 50,000) and then I get the Research Point (Let's say it 50 points). And then I can't get the research point anymore. I have to move to either move to a different T10 or Lower down to T9 and so on. And the "Base EXP collecting process" will be renew every month or so. So I can go back to play Yamato to collect Research Point again. And we limited to do this only in tech tree ships. And for the UI. Just put some "Progress bar" some where... like on top of the ship name in Port page. Or put it in the Module page of the ship. Or even put it in the Tech Tree page. So we can keep track of much we have done. It easier for the player to "Go down the techtree" then "Go up". And we still have the option to go back to that said T10 anytime we want. We don't have the agonizingly grind the whole line again and agian. We will also have a problem about running out of camo and signal flags too. Once we run out of it. The grind will be even slower. Make it even more suffering. We also have the trouble with ship commander too. We have to move them from ship to ship all the time. We also have to install upgrades on the re-purchase again. We also have the problem about credits to re-purchase ship again as well. Ain't we running out of credits because we purchase ship? (Not to mention we have to purchase camo and signal flags too) We have to re-purchase and re-research ship again and again. Credits, camo, signal flags will be deplete eventually. Make it harder to grind the line. And when it become stale like that... It make me don't want to play the game. (Not to mention I have to face +2 tiers match again when I play mid tier) Me personally, I don't like playing low tier. Almost all the ship are the same in gameplay and it understandable. Almost all the cruisers are playing in the same way. And I just don't like it. Meanwhile most of the T10 ships have their own characteristic. Yamato have her Big Guns (But slow and MASSIVE Citadel). Des Moines have her "Strong Female Protagonist" High Rate of Fire and DPM Power. Henri IV have her Speed and Shooting Range. Zao have her concealment and Rudder shift time. Kremlin have her Stalinium Armor. GK have her powerful secondaries. etc. Everyone have some characteristic of their own. And that why I like to play high tier. The big problem about the WG idea for Research Bureau right now is "What if we suddenly have to use that T10 we just reset?" such as Clan Battle or Ranked Battle? It just inconvenience... And what are you gonna do with the EXP I have left on the ship (Like 500,000 EXP on my North Carolina?). Are you gonna lock it up in a separate "Waiting for Conversion to Free EXP" pool? And we have to play the ship to get the "New EXP" to re-research the ship? Hell! What about we combine the 2 idea togather? You have the option to reset the whole line for MORE Research Point and grind the whole line again. AND we also have to option to not reset our ship and still have a chance and opportunities to get the Research Point. Not as much as reset the whole line but still get some. The progression of non-reset line are SLOWER but at least we don't have to reset the whole thing... WG think about this Research Bureau because WG want people to play low and mid tier, right? Stated qoute in Developer Bulletin 0.8.7 "The underlying principle of player progress within our game involves moving from lower tier to higher tier ships all the way up to the branch peak—Tier X ships. However, the game has an enormous number of ships of different tiers, and each tier offers gameplay experiences that are equally interesting as those of Tier X ships. Many players like fighting on these ships, but the game hasn’t encouraged such behavior enough to date." It just doesn't have any rewarding thing for playing low or mid tier. But if we use my idea. Now we have something to "Lure people to lower tier" without taking away their higher tier ships. We can play whatever the tier we want. Another Stated qoute in Developer Bulletin 0.8.7 "The goal of the Research Bureau is to further motivate the players to play more with their favorite ships and earn unique rewards along the way." And you come up with this idea? Ridiculous! This is even worst then the CV Rework! You always come up with a stupid idea lately. (In the past months...Maybe even year) And we will also have a problem(?) with people gonna use Free EXP to skip the grind. I have seen a comment on WOWS Facebook post some said "Have Free EXP to skip the whole line 5-7 times". So some people are still not gonna play the game...Or this is now a probelm because that mean they gonna spend money. And that your goal, right WG? You are a company, Not a charity. It a business... (I still have a problem with your marketing team. Yeah, I'm talking about the Azur Lane Commander Bundle. Instead of put the only thing we want in the bundle. You also put TRASH in it and jack up the price! Hell! You don't even have the separate commander pack like the First Wave! You don't give us the choice! Is it that hard to create MORE choices for people to select their purchase? Instead of separate it for people to buy and get "little" money from a lot of people. You only put a massive bundle to get the "big" money from a few people... If you were both have big and small bundle. You would get the money from both side of customer. If you were just have the "Commander Only Bundle" with a reasonable price I would buy all of those commander by now.) If it true that you only want money from us.... That mean you don't really care about our community... If the community like your game. They will spend money on your game. (Like cosmetic or something) And you know how much time I come up with this I idea? 10 minutes... A MERE 10 MINUTES. I'm NOT trying brag "I'm Smart", NO! "I ain't the sharpest tool in the shed" but the point of this statement is "How easy to think the better way." Please, I really like this game. All the event you have done are very fun (Like Rogue Wave, Halloween and Space Battle). I don't want this game to go down any farther. Please.... And if you have some more idea/opinion you can leave a comment down. My idea will sure have flaws in it...I just can't see it myself. It would be good if you point it out.
  10. As of the current version: Pros: - As the tech trees are the “core” content of the game, it’s good that this gets some attention. Tech tree ships are often overshadowed in favor of freemiums. - Players with too much credit and free xp and no line to grind have something to do. - This system adds another activity-specific “currency” to earn. This limits the number of players who can get their hands on certain content. Cons: - If the goal is to make players engaged with low/mid tier play again, it fails even at a conceptual level. Because the grind to T8,9,10 ships is still, objectively, the LONGEST grind for people who save their free xp, and people with free xp to spare will just free xp past the low-mid tier ships. This is pure whale bait. - The rewards of the re-grind have NOTHING to do with tech tree ships. I have seen a lot of players suggesting cosmetic rewards for their favorite ships in certain lines. If you want the players to engage with the ships they like (but find no incentive to do so because of the ships’ tiers), you have to give them rewards that can be used by those ships, and that does not includes brand new ships. - Selling all the ships in the line to re-grind is absolutely STUPID, even if the players get the full price back. Not selling the ships will save the players a lot of hassle by sparing them A LOT of unnecessary clicking. Unnecessary clicking is unnecessary. - The primary rewards of this feature are two OVERPOWERED ships in their current state. Like, every CC says that Ohio and Colbert are absolutely unbalanced. And that is unacceptable. NERF THEM, and maybe the player base are willing to compromise. - Changing the name will NOT do anything. Players will still remember NTC as what it was. EA recently “changed” the name of loot boxes, and with that, they made themselves the top-notch villain of the video game industry. I don’t want to do the same to WG. The only suggestions I can make here are: + NOT having to sell owned tech tree ships. Just reset their xp progression; + Nerfing the reward ships to make them ALTERNATIVES of tech tree ships, instead of must-haves for many players. This is supposed to be the point of all premium ships, but never truly enforced; + NOT allowing players to use free xp; + Offering cosmetic rewards such as premium camos for T1-7 tech tree ships and permanent economic bonuses for tech tree ships; + Offering Free xp, Coal, Steel so I can buy more balanced ships with those resources; In conclusion: SAY NO TO RESEARCH BUREAU Some side thoughts: NTC/RB seems like a very solid long-term activity for players by tackling the core content of the game - tech tree ships, however, the execution and rewards are questionable, if not horrible, because of several badly thought out features. Steel-gating those ships is easier than this sh*t. What’ll come after Ohio and Colbert? Whatever they are, they’d better be properly balanced.
