  1. I'll keep the rant brief... Right now the only reason anyone is playing co-op is either to a) try out submarine gameplay or b) try out anti-submarine gameplay. The player team ends up filled with :bot: CV, BB, and cruisers. The only humans are 2-3 subs and one or two DDs. As a simple practice session to learn the mechanics, fine. As gameplay, it's even worse than the last time subs were tested on the main servers. Ok, ok, ... submarines: Art and graphics/sound design - great! Depth charges are so well done, the underwater environments, and the overall experience of driving around in the submarine, all excellent. Also, the diving and depth mechanics have been cleaned up since last test, it's far more intuitive now. I don't like the sonar ping and homing torpedo mechanic. It feels to arcade-y to me, too much like a minigame. I don't like the fact that subs have the speed and handling of cruisers. I understand these decisions were necessary to integrate subs into the existing battle modes, but it doesn't sit well with me. I still think that subs are an answer to a non-existent problem. There is no need to introduce them into the game, and I see no benefit from doing so. It will be interesting to see what happens to the BB population when they do come online as regular tech tree ships for random battles though. I concede WG that.
