WG, what about a new Japanese battlecruiser NO.13?
StarDustMem0ry posted a topic in General Discussions
We have seen many battlecruisers launched these years since Constellation, Schlieffen, Repulse and Imcomparable. Adding high speed battleships to the game was a good decision. So why not try a Japanese battlecruiser. The pictures below were taken by me from the magazine. They can become design guidance. No. 13 battlecruiser has 4*2 460mm artillery with a high speed of 30 knot, which will make a striking contrast with Yamato. The 460mm main artillery was tested at the Kure naval factory in 1920, and it had passed the test successfully. I believe No. 13 battlecruiser is worthy to have a try. Another thing I want to say is that Hizen and Iwami' s battle bridges are too ugly, and they don't look like what the Japanese Navy would build in reality. The look in the picture below is much closer to reality. Need to come back to the tradition. Look at Kii and Amagi. That is the way to go. I think maybe NO.13 battlecruiser can be purchased by steel. -

Premium Ship Suggestion - Tier IX Japanese Heavy Cruiser (Hybrd) Suzuya
azerhero posted a topic in Suggestions
Well.. Since the "hybrid" ships are now not exclusively in the even tier anymore (Kearsarge being a Tier IX), I kinda thinking of a new Premium ships based on refitted Mogami-class being a new hybrid in the Tier IX, namely Suzuya/Kumano. I think that was a good REAL ship to add to the game, I'm being sick of paper ships being added to the high tier lately lol. Here's my suggestion on the resource cost : FXP / Coal Details about the armament, also the stats of the ship? Let Wargaming decide, as long as the stats is well-balanced, maybe with some of Tone's gimmick but improved a little bit. Despite of me not trusting the balancing department of Wargaming lol how do you guys think?- 2 replies

Which CV line is best going forward in update 0.9.7 Japanese vs German
LordCommander007 posted a topic in General Discussions
I have played both Ryujo and Weser at tier 6. Ryujo is the one that comes out top for me in 0.9.6 . I always get matched with tier 8 which obliterate german planes meanwhile DD hunting is much better on Ryujo. However with the reticle and DD concealment changes in 0.9.7 which ship line will come out on top ? I can only go up one CV line. -
The IJN DD line is split in two. I find I prefer the alternate tech tree boats, the stealthier Minekaze/Hatsuharu/Shiratsuyu over the larger, main line DDs, Mutsuki/Fubuki/Akatsuki. Though I liked Mutsuki well enough, I could not adjust to the high detection radius and low speed / maneuverability of Fubuki or Akatsuki. My favorite ship of the combined lines up to T7 is Hatsu. Over time my IJN DD playstyle has adapted to (and stuck at) the ultra-stealth ability of that particular ship so I'm struggling to do much of anything with Akatsuki. How do you do well in Akatsuki when you are so easy to spot and so sluggish to move? I can't seem to be able to effectively contest caps given the high number of Russian and USN gunboats in play, and even spotting for the team risks being outspotted by enemy DD and deleted by the supporting high tier, high DPM cruisers... I'm definitely missing some key point somewhere. Maybe play much closer support to friendly ships? Maybe do the lone flank run and torp enemy BBs?

[0.5.12.1] MOD: Chinese/Japanese fonts for English WoWS client
benlisquare posted a topic in General Discussions
By popular demand, here is an update of the old Chinese/Japanese font mod for English game clients. This mod now works with game client version 0.5.12.1. Do you: play with the English version game client prefer playing the game in English understand either Chinese, Japanese, or both wish to understand what your Chinese/Japanese teammates are saying, instead of seeing meaningless boxes? Now you can play the game in English, and have Chinese/Japanese font support. Supported scripts: Latin alphabet (ABCDEFG), Cyrillic alphabet (кириллица), Greek alphabet (Ελληνικό αλφάβητο), Traditional Chinese (繁體中文), Simplified Chinese (简体中文), Japanese Kanji (漢字), Hiragana (ひらがな), Katakana (カタカナ) Non-supported scripts: Korean hangul (한글), Thai (ภาษาไทย) Download link: https://my.mixtape.moe/hpkdur.zip Installation instructions: Extract the archive directly into your "World_of_Warships" directory. Example before/after screenshot: Top is before mod installation (default English game client), bottom is after installation. The image uses the following text: "This is a test. 简体字 繁體字 ひらがな カタカナ 한글 русский язык ελληνικά ภาษาไทย" Known issues: The letter "ł" within "Błyskawica" does not display properly, and appears as a box. -
The Ishizuchi The Ishizuchi is currently the only premium battleship of the Imperial Japanese Navy (except for the Mikasa but that is just a bunch of guns strapped to a ship and you are relegated to the helmsman) and lies at tier four. The Ishizuchi has tough competition at its tier such as Imperator Nicolai II and the Kaiser. At a glance the Ishizuchi looks mediocre compared to its competitors, it has low armour and its guns have bad penetration characteristics. On top of this the turning circle is so big that is performs a tour of all of Japan`s imperial possessions. The guns have a low range and have the typical battleship accuracy (they can`t hit the side of a barn from the inside) but there is a fair few of them, in fact there is enough to completely out-gun the Chinese navy on it`s own. The speed of the ship is very good which means it is able to take the emperor to all of his palaces in a timely manner. The high explosive shell also has a “balanced” fire chance and with the demolition expert the fire chance rises to 35%. Now the Japanese can finally invade Australia and have that barbeque they have always wanted. My opinion on this ship is that it is okay, it`s an okay tier four ship but none of that matters, because it is fun. Firing a high explosive salvo at an enemy battleship and getting three separate fires after he has just burned his damage control consumable is glorious. This ship is a high explosive spammer of a battleship, 10k damage salvoes happen and arsonist is a common occurrence; you will get one fire a salvo if you aim well. Combined with the buffed reload time this makes for one hell of a barbeque. Indeed, the Ishizuchi is soft like the zucchini it is but it bites back (if a zucchini is even capable of hurting a person). If indeed you want to fire your armour piercing shells at cruisers, they do work. Of course the damage isn`t great on your armour piercing shells but you will be tossing a lot of them at your opponents and some of it is going to do damage. The Ishizuchi`s anti-aircraft defence will do this ship about as many favours as it did for the Yamato. You have the grand total of six anti-aircraft guns. With the main battery of the Ishizuchi you might actually kill something; it won`t be a plane. To be honest I would not recommend this ship to any new players, you will sink faster than the Japanese carrier fleet. If you turn at the wrong time you will take damage so, try to time your turns according to enemy salvoes. The citadel is mostly just on the water line but it does have a bit sticking up just between the 1 2 34 5 turrets. At the very least the citadel is away from the centre of the ship away from where most players aim at (I know, I`ve just ruined it by saying it). Overall the Ishizuchi is an okay ship, but it`s fun, as it is a battlecruiser it is possible to train your Japanese BB and CA captains in and not have the single most out of place captain ever, hmm air superiority, useful. Anyway get this ship if you want it, sure, but don`t set your expectations too high.

[0.3.0] MOD: Chinese/Japanese fonts for English WoWS client

EDIT 2016-10-17: This mod is now depreciated. There is a new version of this mod, which can be found here. So umm I just got the Nagato this morning and I have been doing my research on it because I was looking forward to moving up 1 level, However I understand that stock ships have many drawbacks Nagato having many such as... (35 second reload time, painfully slow traversing turrets, 20.5 km range and 22 knots maximum speed) Now because its a stock ship I get that you know and if those were the specifications for just the stock Nagato then I would have no problem with that but its the range on the main guns I did a little digging in game and found that even with a maxed out Nagato the range stays the same why? Are you meaning to tell me that the tier 6 ship Fuso at maxed ability has more range than a ship of higher tier with bigger guns? seems a bit out of place to me in real life Nagato had a maximum firing range of 38.4 kms and like all the ships to balance the game they reduced the range to fit the maps but this 18 km reduction seems like a bit much and to see that throughout the upgrades it doesn't change at all so whats really worth it a Fuso with more range and more guns but lower caliber or a tier 7 Nagato with bigger caliber less range longer reload time and less guns you do the rest.

Earlier I was watching , and noticed this mock-up of the Japanese tech tree: From what I gather: Myogi will be renamed or replaced with Masamune at tier 4? They've decided on a tier 9 BB and a tier 5 CA The first Japanese aircraft carrier branch will begin with CVLs (light aircraft carriers) and develop into CVs such as Zuikaku and Taihou (I'd assume that the slower CV designs such as Kaga, Akagi and Shinano will appear in a second CV branch, or as premium warships) They're already rolling out the paper warships for the CV branch (Hakuryu? Never heard of it) Of course, this is always subject to further change in the future, and by no means represents the final tree design. One issue that I personally have with this design is that they're already rolling out plenty of paper blueprint warships, even though there are many famous ships that aren't in the tree yet. Of course, this isn't to say that they won't come later in secondary branches, but I really hope that the game doesn't become overwhelmed with paper designs for many branches like the German and Soviet trees in WoT are.
