  2. As a side project I've recently been grinding the KM BB line, arriving at Gneisenau earlier today. Konig: Since there are still plenty of CVs at that tier, and plenty of overconfident DDs too, a AFT/BFT captain + secondaries mod makes for constant hilarity. The small maps mitigate the wonky main guns. Farm CQE awards left and right. Bayern: Nice looking ship. Not nearly as fun as Konig. MM isn't as forgiving, the engagement distances tend to be beyond secondaries range. Long distances, really wonky guns, and very slow speed all add up to frustration. You know where you want to be, but a lot of games you just can't get the ship there in time. Scharnhorst: This was the second premium ship I bought, a couple of years back. Lost my first 7 games straight, but I've got the hang of her now. Bar none the best ship for bullying underage cruisers, and a solid battlecruiser in any circumstance. Gneisenau: Sistership of Scharnhorst of course, switching 3x3 283 mm rifles for 3x2 380 mm guns. Some of the AA armaments have been upgraded, and it tops out at 2 kts faster. Quite possibly the most beautiful ship in the game. Now the shiny horse is a fun ship, don't get me wrong, but Gneis plays as a battleship. A really, really, really fast battleship. 32 knots before flags. Go in, hit hard, and get out. Now this is a ship which is always in the right place at the right time. Yeah yeah, I know you trade DPM, but really this BB has so much going for it. Seriously raunchy AA and secondaries, solid armor, ... and torps. It's the speed which brings it all home though.

    Yes, it is. Commemorating the release of Prinz Eitel Friedrich, this is my take on the (inevitable) German BB split. This split is a "when" and not an "if". I just don't care when. I’ll go through the possible setups of the 2 lines first, then the stats of the ships down below. I’m not going through AA for the ships, if anything, I would just compare the AA of the ships to the ships that already in the game. Also protection stats for the ships can be changed/adjusted by WG so I would only mention some details. I put everything in spoilers to avoid unnecessary mouse-scrolling.     Ranked XP issues...

    So basically after getting to rank 9 I'm down at 11/0. My issue is thus, I get 100k+ damage in Zao + caps, get 3rd XP if I'm lucky, same story with Hindy. I get 100k in Yamato and top XP consistently on losses. This is not even to mention DDs. I'm starting to think T10 XP is very BB biased and subsequently this is why we're seeing games at 10+ with 0 DDs... I'm a good Zao player, particularly in CB or ranked, yet I perform superbly in her and won't top XP on a loss outside a monster game. Yet in Yamato, I'm average, I have what I would consider an average game and I find it easy AF to get top XP on a loss. Thus I reach the conclusion that BB is better for ranking up. Thoughts?

    A question on landing hits

    Hai , Guys I need your inputs . I am at tier 7 Nagato I find it difficult landing hits at 18 and + kms ranges . Is it really difficult ? Also sometimes my shells land beyond the target I mean they fly over the targets and drop in sea with minuscule margin. Any help will be greatly appreciated . Thank you .

    Bayern not what it seems?

    So been trying my hardest to climb the german BB tree, but I have to admit the novelty is starting to wear out. I am aware that german BB have ridiculous dispersion and that they are generally tanks (armoured giants). Aim is to get close enough to see the whites in their eyes then blast them to oblivion. Sadly I am not seeing any of the blasting from my end. I've played probably dozen Bayern battles in a row where i have been wiped out in moments, and have not been able to even penetrate CV. Usually I will be within 10km of target, and at 45+ degree angle to them (they usually go full bowside). Every other ship has been able to penetrate me easy, from a massive range with most shells hitting, yet even with perfect aiming at 8km (fighting a fuso) i am getting bounces or nothing in fact. It has really killed my mood for this game to be honest. Is anyone experiencing similar problems?
  9. yeah, So I just received the personal mission for the Normandie, but I already have it. I'd picked up teh Bretagne earlier, and had enough XP to unlock the Normanide with 7.2. So I'm guessing if I complete I get credits + port slot?
  10. Hi All, I played with lot of fun German and Japanese BB up to Tier 8. But when reaching Tier 9, they feel absolutely pitiful. I upgraded the FDG and the Izumo to the maximum and still, absolutely horrible. After 190 batte with FDG and 70 with Izumo, I am really wondering what are those rubbish things... I had much more success and fun facing Yamato or Montana with my Bismark than with FDG. How can this be possible?!? Big + of FDG is her armor and big 420mm guns. Really? I receive Citadel really often at mid-range and my 420mm shell bounce of go through ship on broadside. And many times, when I do a penetration, it is with zero damage. Yes, absolutely zero! This is total non sense: Penetration should mean damage. Big + of Izumo: its precision. Really? Sending salvo to a broadside Missouri at 12km and 2/3 of the shell go too far and 2/3 go too close. Can't even think about doing citadel with a so great grouping of the shell. I can only hope for a shell to miraculously land on the target. I don't ask to have something astonishing, but at least something that make me wish to play them a bit more. I start feeling disgusted by this game due to all this non-sense.

    1. Description After upgrading the Gun FCS on French T5 BB Bretagne only the HE shells get the upgraded range. AP shells will only fire at stock range 2. Reproduction steps 1. Upgrade the gun FCS on Bretagne 2. Enter a battle 3. Select AP shells 4. Guns won't fire at the upgraded range 3. Result AP shells will only fire at stock range even after upgraded 4. Expected result Guns with AP shells should fire at the upgraded maximum range

The results are not endorsed by any other party except for myself, including Wargaming, Reddit, or any of the developers. As this was a player run poll, I open up my results to any analysis that any players, developers, and/or outside observers would like to make. These results are not guaranteed to influence Wargaming in any way. I am also not an AP Stats student. If you spot an incorrect assumption, please show mercy. Thank you. In addition, I received a lot of flak for this poll for multiple reasons. I tried to keep the poll simple, which explains why people felt it was too basic. Next time around, I'll be covering more complex topics, so I have more freedom to make the poll more complex. In addition, the poll itself can be taken multiple times. This is not a mistake; rather I am attempting to protect the identities of those taking the poll. If I made the poll a one answer only poll, people would be forced to sign into their Google accounts to take the poll. The poll results on the Google form are open, which means that anyone who would respond would open their email up to the public. A side note, before we begin: I do not play USN BBs. I'm pretty much a DD guy myself; as such, please do not scream "[edited]noobtard" when I display the poll. I made this poll because two guys I know disagree on this issue. Introduction and Methodology The following results were compiled from the poll above, which ran from 29-11-17 to 02-12-17. There were 240 people who took the poll. Results were compiled into an Excel spreadsheet and analyzed. An asterisk (*) indicates that I lumped similar responses together. For example, if one response was that they didn't care, and another response was that it didn't really matter, I would lump both together. In addition, all of the "other" responses are marked as "Other" in the pie charts. Data Results Analysis Combining the first two questions, we can see that the majority of those who answered are USN players and BB players. This means that we will be receiving results from people who play USN ships and those who play other BBs against them. On our third question, there is a general consensus that USN BBs are not weak objectively speaking. I say general consensus, but I really mean an overwhelming majority. This trend continues throughout the poll, with around 80% of the population believing USN BBs are fine each question. I really can't analyze this battery of questions very much, as there isn't much to analyze. The last multiple choice question asks whether USN BBs are powercreeped. This seems to leave the population split, with about 40% of the population believing USN BBs are not powercreeped, 46% believing that USN BBs are slightly powercreeped, and 14% of the population believing that USN BBs are extremely powercreeped. These results to this question are very curious, as even though 80% of the population believes that USN BBs are not weak, 60% of the population surveyed believe that the USN BBs are powercreeped to at least some degree. At least some of those who believe that USN BBs are not weak also believe that USN BBs have been powercreeped, although I cannot say just how many for sure. In short, even though much of the population believes USN BBs aren't weak, some of that population also believes USN BBs have been powercreeped to some degree. Finally, the open response. I will be covering this in my different analyses from now on. Picking a few quotes, we can see the many different views of the population. "Nothing. Git Gud." This sentiment is echoed many times in many different responses. Although on the surface it is a blatant jab at the OP, we can analyze this to mean that USN BBs are relatively high skill. "Raise Citadel." Surprisingly, many people also believe that the USN citadel lowering was a bit too much. However, this is often times the only nerf that is mentioned, leading me to believe that only the citadel should be raised again in order to rebalance the USN BB line. "Speed buffs." USN BBs are well-known for their slow speed. It is no surprise that a much-asked buff is to the speed. It would not be unreasonable, certainly, and it should probably be done. "Add STS Plating, imprive [sic] gun handling at long/mid range, improve pennetration [sic] of 16 inch Mk 8 Super Heavy Shell" The most specific response in the poll. It covered a lot of ground while still keeping it concise and easy to understand. This was the most detailed buff request. In addition, we can break it down further. STS plating is special plating used on USN BBs, known for being a slight improvement over other steel plates because of its ductility. I do believe that USN BBs do not have special armor modeled; thus the author wishes for better armor when compared to contemporaries. Improving gun handling at mid and long ranges is also another issue raised by the author. While USN BBs are not supposed to be snipers, the author wishes for them to at least gain a little bit more accuracy. Buffing accuracy could prove problematic, however, as it could enable DD sniping with BBs. Still, I am sure the author has experienced very bad USN BB accuracy firsthand, and I do not wish to discredit his/her experiences. "buff the whining factor so i get more salt to feed on" Purely shiptosting by an anonymous user. Lightened up my day a little. Conclusions USN BBs are seen as well balanced, if a bit strong, by most. Although an appreciable amount of people believe that USN BBs have been slightly powercreeped, most people do believe that USN BBs are not a dumpster fire. As is, I rest my case. Feel free to use this data to support your own internet arguments, draw conclusions, or use this as data to buff USN BBs. Thank you for reading this long and hard poll result.

    Yamato radio rotation

    I believe that the two radio antennas on top of the IJN Yamato tower should be animated to rotate, much like the rotation that is visible on US battleships such as the USS Alabama. It should be pretty simple and will add some life to the Yamato in my opinion.
  18. Hello Everyone, I've had some extra time on my hands today, (really bad ping) so I decided to do some math on something that I've been hearing from some DD Captains about BB AP on their ships. I thought they were complaining that AP Overpens were more damaging than HE pens. I have since learned that this is not the case, but that they are complaining of the pen/overpen mechanic that they are subject too. 1) They show broadside, BB overpen and do 1k damage, CL/CA kill them in 1 or 2 salvos because broadside. Makes sense, you show broadside, you get punished. 2) They angle to not die from CL/CA/DD, they get hammered from AP pen from BB. Wait, this makes no darn sense. Correct play gets you killed? (Maybe why people in T10 still don't angle cause they learned angling in DD?) 2 ways that you get hammered in the ship? Not fair. Now, why do BBs only shoot AP? Bad/lazy play? Forgot what the 1 key is? Or is it something in the game mechanics? As you can see, with the exception of the Brits. Starting in either Tier 6 or Tier 7, you are rewarded for forgetting your HE shells in BB. The damage output of an HE pen is only slightly more than an AP overpen in most cases from T6 on. Heck, the Germans have 2 different BB in top (from wiki) that have greater AP overpen than HE pen. There is literally no reward for BB players to switch ammo type to HE to shoot DD's. This doesn't make any sense. In the low tiers, you are taught to switch ammo type. This is useless in upper tiers. Sure you can get a little more damage on a DD with HE pen and a fire, maybe knock a module out or the engines, but then what? You have to switch back to AP to be a killer again to other ship types. (Correct play mechanic in my opinion.) Or, you can shoot AP at the DD, get some hits, do almost as much damage and don't have to switch ammo types with the reload wait. Which is what smart players do. (Incorrect play mechanic in my opinion.) I do believe, that DD mains, may have a valid complaint about this. BB players need to be encouraged to switch ammo types which would A) Encourage BB pushing with team (don't have to worry about BB AP if they are shooting DD) B) Help to keep CL/CA from instant delete C) Make average player think more about shots D) (My opinion) Make game play more interesting. E) Ok, just reread A). It most likely won't as a lot of BBs are scared of whatever. What's your thoughts? Honestly Curious about honest thoughts here guys.
  19. these days games are played totally bad. battleships have thick armor, heavy gun it's mean battleship must go in a front line tank team and shot. but now battleships don't go front line. they just run away then which ship go in front? "cruiser" because they have a short range gun there are 3ways to solve this problem 1.nerf battleships gun range(about 10km) 2.nerf battleships gun shell speed (try to shot in close range) 3.buff cruiser armor like a battleship (because they do what battleship do) if not battleships keep runaway and games become worse
  20. The conqueror's AAA is amazing early game with 659 dps for mid range. however after 5mins of being shelled, that dropped quite fast. Should WG look for a different way to balance its AA? Or is it not an issue since CV(if there's any) wouldn't want to risk their planes?

So I don't like playing my Montana anymore because I always go up against Yamato's that have thicker armour and bigger guns than my Montana, which my pitiful 406mm shells can't do crap at all on it. I always resort to HE shells but the problem is trying to survive the Yamato no matter what angle or whatever I am to it he always "absolutely crushes" me with the 460mm shells which is stupid even if one shell hits my ass its like 5k. Even with the lowered citadel on the Montana it doesn't matter for the Yamato because it's raw damage is just as much always 16K+ from each salvo. Wargaming needs to fix the Yamato or make the new t10 British BB be a match for the Yamato. Because it is so op I see so many Yamato's in every match I do and it really puts me off the game in general, I love my Montana but whats the point using it when it is so inferior to the Yamato???

    How to not be potato

    What I have noticed is that I am not being able to produce a good damage output from my games. It hasn't crossed 100k since the first few days of playing Co op in wows and play terribly in Random. And I am starting to think that I am missing out on something. Specially from Battleships my average is around 14-16k only. And seeing that up in warships today feels like shit. Anyone can help me with not being a potato with low-mid teir Bbs(German and Japanese), Cl/Ca(French, Japanese and British) and DDs (Americans)? Been terribly sucking at random matches.
