Good! This means you've got a clean slate on WOWS Karma (hence the 0 Site Karma and ratings), along with positive Game Karma.

This is one of those Frontend aspects I wish I never had to encounter... This was already fixed once, but for some reason, the height aspect was borked again. Technically speaking, the posts display makes it all on rows of the same size, so it should be vertically aligned. However, the card won't stretch (and actually, there's arguing the fact that it shows true content size as well... ^^) But yeah, I'll dig into it if we don't rework the Posts display once again. For the record, I've got extra display options planned, such as Table... ^^

If you've got 0, there's absolutely no worries to be had. But if it goes negative, then yes, i'd start worrying a bit...

Funnily enough, it's quite a few people. I'm as surprised as you are that we hit the 20K daily requests, last weekend... ^^ So there's certainly a market for WOWS Karma, and it's not only clan recruiters... Or that'd be a lot o' clans... As for the data, we've got full integration with Stewie's WOWS Monitor, on which you can check Karma metrics for both the game, and WOWS Karma. That being said, I'm easily envisionning a mod for the game, benefiting both WOWS Numbers and WOWS Karma (the only thing that separates us is changing "numbers" to "karma" in the address bar!), where you'd be able to grab site info from within in-game. That being said, I'm no WOWS modder, and Flash/Python ain't exactly my proverbial cup of tea... 😕

As a fellow programmer, my fullest sympathy too. As you noted, transparency is a good practice, in any project. That's also the same reason why I regularly share insights on Discord, in a #dev-diary channel. Regarding Max, you might be right, he might have been the first to suggest. But one does not start a dialog by punching the other in the face. This is how the dialog started and felt like between Max and I, and frankly, I won't listen to that kind of people. Give me time.

I'll be truthful, i'm considering more and more implementing that opt-out, in the further next update. Seeing as it was suggested a pounding amount of times here, and several times on the Discord server, I can only see it as a highly requested feature, and, yes, an escape goat. But BY DEFINITION, this opt-out would have to be optional for new profiles, leaving them "in" by default. Lock it behind a Captcha of some kind, and there's the perfect recipe to make this system impervious to bots. I'll consider its implementation, and i'll see what I can do. I'm currently very hard-pressed for time, but I understand this is a critical feature request. Remember, WOWS Karma's coding monkeys team is only comprised of one gal ; The one writing this post... ^^ ...Also on the legal matter, I'm not legally liable for any "flame wars" or such happening on my website, as all comments are anonymised in the eyes of the law. Morally speaking, I do hold myself liable, but like anything on the internet, there will be those that will agree with my actions, and the many others that won't. I can't please everyone, but I can certainly listen and take actions...

Now I feel genuinely stupid... Why didn't I think of this? Replies, YES ! That actually makes sense, given someone would surely want to defend their deeds. My main problem with this, in the immediate future, is still "How would I display that? How would it fit with the rest of the layout?"... All these questions are now preventing me from coding this in right away... Oh well, details. Thanks for that particular suggestion, Ralph. This one definitely goes high on my Todo list ^^ As for Opt-outs, yeah... I get the picture... It's quite the requested feature, isn't it... 😕 Oh well, one day. I'll keep it in mind.

To be truthful, Max, [content removed] or here, WG. This is where I'd specifically answer, and no further, that I'll plainly ignore any of your posts on this forum, starting with this one. Regarding WG, I think my sentence was misunderstood. While I fully cooperate with WG's staff when solicited, Wargaming does not endorse WOWS Karma, nor is WOWS Karma partnered with WG. What I described was our official stance with WG, more akin to a "gentleman's agreement". Given WOWS is their turf, we'll do any adjustments that they require to WOWS Karma. Plain and simple. This has already manifested in the past, when several extremely noisy posters attracted WG's eyes and ears, and we recieved messages from their staff. Ban ensued, all was well. As for site moderation, obviously people here aren't as appreciative of the Lax moderation. Obviously like all things it follows as imperfect, and we'll adjust it as necessary as it will be.

A good point to address ; I'm not legally liable in any way towards any particular instance of harassment on WOWS Karma, short of terrorism apology, and the usual lecture of Mein Kampf. These are things I CAN be liable for, through racketeering. But even with this, I have a strong policy in place to eliminate any particular posts of the sort. The reason why I'm not liable for Harrassment steams from the fact that i'm not collecting nor displaying any Personal data. Without these, you cannot legally correlate an account to a person. That's why you will never see your Name, Email address, or any of the sort, on WOWS Karma. Not even on your own private profile. For my moderation staff, I will personally kick ANY staff who tries to abuse of their powers for personal gain. WOWS Karma remains unbiased, and I intend it to remain that way. For Posts complaints and contesting, frankly, it's your word against theirs. You're just as entitled to neg-post on his profile, as he is on yours. Hence why I recommend you post on friends to build your reputation, just as they would on yours. As for WG, I'm in full cooperation with their staff, when they emit any particular or generalised request, regarding any aspect of WOWS Karma. This isn't the first time I'm asked by WG to silence a player, and I'll keep doing so, if they need me to. After all, they're the ones providing the API, it'd be a sin to not grant their requests... And don't worry, I'm taking these questions very seriously, and i'm not enclined to flip any birds at anyone. Not for this. The last person who had this kind of attention from me, was someone who twisted my country's values to spitefully discredit me. Something which I consider a personal insult, to me and my country. Yes, I'm very patriotic. Cocorico!

Okay, I had to catch up just about 1 whole page of forum posts, so I may have missed a few things. First of all, regarding Max_Battle : You're merely banned from the Discord, after outright refusing to tone down a conversation that was going nowhere. Since your behaviour was completely inadequate to the Discord itself, and quite destructive to the efforts we've got happening on WOWS Karma. Now yes, I did say banned from Discord, meaning you're still free to use the actual platform, so long as you don't try to ruin it with low-effort posts (source of our previous bans). But given you don't appreciate the platform, I don't think that'll ever happen, and it still makes me wonder what you're still doing on this forum thread... Second of all, regarding validation of Posts made on WOWS Karma : There is no quantifiable truth to this system, and by definition, there can never be. One report isn't as bad as one may think, but looking at who posted this can help you make your mind on the validity, plain and simple. Seeing 5 posts written "bad bad bad" will still always be less informative and decisive than one singular post saying "bad because X and Y and Z". Luckily we're hiring and training Community Managers to filter out the low-effort posts. THIS is our Lax moderation policy for now ; Making sure that the site doesn't become a dumpster. So far, we've held well, given the several months this site was up... ^^ Third of all, regarding replays : There is no way in hell that I'd find time, much less knowledge, to parse entire replay files. This is simply something that is unfeasible for me, by definition. I may be a Developer, but certainly not a miracle worker. Currently my efforts are spent on getting other technical backbone features up, and soon getting support for Clans up. This, and other Development tasks on other projects, so yeah... Last of all, regarding legal matter and physical whereabouts : WOWS Karma is self-hosted, here in Brest (France). I physically own the server, the housing, and the equipment, meaning I retain full data sovereignty on WOWS Karma, and given circumstances (job, affiliations), also get amongst the best hosting conditions possible for any operations here. Denial of Service attempts are frequent on WOWS Karma, and usually results in the attacker's connection being brought down on its knees. As for the server itself, the horsepower is more than adequate, and I can go leaps and bounds higher by getting another machine, if absolutely necessary. Legally speaking, the website falls under French jurisdiction. But given the lack of involvement with any major hosting company, I'm not bound by the same exact rules. You have just about the same data access rights as for any service in France. Remember ; WOWS Karma is still a work in progress. Things are bound to be incomplete, changed, added, or removed. The fact is that I have to constantly balance development efforts with what's feasible, and what's out of reach (yet, or ever). But with your help, anything can be done. Hence why I count on, first, your indulgence and compassion, to get as much constructive feedback as humanly possible.

So your take on it is essentially "take it down", making months of development completely null and void. Frankly, I've seen more stupid reasons to keep it up than valid facts to take it down. As for your take on France's sense of liberty, please, take a national Finger as symbolic gesture. You've proved your childishness, at best.
  12. Sakura_Isayeki

    Introducing WoWs Karma

So tell me ; What are you implying I should do here? Just close WOWS Karma because it is useless? Because even if that were to happen, that doesn't solve the toxicity of the current system, and people aimlessly reporting you on WOWS because you didn't brush your teeth in the morning. And guess what, you can't fight fire with fire. Not this time.

Strange that you'd suggest that, as the Authentication mechanism is Cookie-based. So long as your cookie hasn't expired (2 weeks IIRC), then you're logged-in, no questions asked. The other hypothesis is that you experienced a server swap on your connection. But even then, that's such a rare occurrence...
  14. Sakura_Isayeki

    Introducing WoWs Karma

Then WOWS Numbers must rethink their strategy too, as they also display the Account ID in the address bar. This ID is also how you can identify someone despite username changes. Also no, you can't simply hack someone using an account ID... 😉

    Introducing WoWs Karma

Not allowing any comments leads to easier flaming, as you just have a small set of clicks to ruin someone's impeccable Karma record. So I'm afraid, that would defeat the whole purpose. There are limits in place for User/Posts interaction : No more than 1 Post per Day per Player pair (X player can post only once a day on Y player). And with proper monitoring, we can immediately see when is someone abusing the system to bring another player down. The other system currently in place, is the inability to Negative-post on WOWS Karma, if your own Mixed Karma metric reaches -20. As for posts from a player... Just go on a player profile, job done. Here's mine, for example x) https://wows-karma.com/player/503379282,Sakura_Isayeki
