They can't nerf HE too much.
The trouble is they've put ships in combat where the 'normal' situation is a BB > everything, which is why nations built them and why you really don't fight BBs with anything other than another BB.
'Reality' is that a ship closing at 30kt (55.56km/h) will close about 1km per minute. So if you're trying to close from 20km to 15km in a CA, for example, that would take almost 5 minutes. That's enough FOR 10 SHOTS by most BBs with main guns. Good luck with that.
Then there's the other reality, that CA rounds represent a minimum threat to a BB while any single hit from a BB can do catastrophic damage to a CA.
Go read the battle report of the Battle of the River plate and see what happened to HMS Exeter under fire from the 11"/280mm guns of Graf Spee, and that's only 6 of them. There were also 2 CLs spamming HE from 6" guns, too. Yet the Brits came out of it without doing substantial damage to GS's ability to fight (strategic damage was worse due to damage to fuel purification plant, but that's another story). Bear in mind, too, that the GS had armour nothing like a BB (she was an oversized CA with intermediate sized guns).
So the reality is everyone would play BBs because nothing else would stand a chance.
Then you get CVs, and the reality shifts to everything else being relegated to support.
So, they had to have some methods by which CAs and DDs could do something.
Thus you get vastly accelerated movement, which is a nerf of slow firing guns at range. You also get the silly mechanic where DD calibre guns start fires that melt BBs. And you can hide in smoke while firing as though in the clear and remaining invisible.
It is what it is because it's the only way they could jam these ships together without BBs ruling everything but CVs.
If it annoys you too much, stop playing. That's what I've done. But don't expect it to change significantly, because if it does every class other than BBs and CVs will be irrelevant in 95% of cases.
There's a reason naval combat shifted from BBs to CVs, and CAs and DDs acting primarily as support to both those.
But it wouldn't suit a game like this.
So that's how it is, and how it will remain.
I don't like it, so I've stopped playing. That, more or less, is the choice you face. Accept the gamey mechanics and learn how to use them, or quit.

Hello Captains! Thanks for opening this thread!
So, I've been playing with USN ships for quite awhile now and I've been having a blast... But with Project R currently on, I've been revisiting the old standby (The Kongo)... I played a few matches with her and I noticed something odd with the Audio Notification (Ship on Fire, Flooding, Guns damaged, etc.)... I should assume that would be the X-O... Spoke very fluent English on a Japanese Ship which kinda felt humorously Out-of-place...
Is there a mod around where I can switch over to the correct language of the X-O?? I mean IJN X-Os should speak in Japanese, and other nation's officers should speak their own respective language or at least have an accent... I really don't care if I don't understand them since I just look at the icons below indicating which problem I am having...
So far I'm only finding KanColle voice packs which isn't my thing... I just want to further enhance the immersive aspect of this game...

ive been playing german ships since they got rolled out and am currently sitting on a roon (t9) recently ive noticed the maximum damage for ap shells has been decresed but also the chance/ rate at which i penetrate ships has severly gone down. i could understand people yelling op to there cannons before due to 7k citidels and high pen chances but the armor and rate at which they die balances it. now that its been redused i find roon and hipper allmost not even fun to play to the point where i cant pen a myoko from 6km and deal 6k damage instead i dealt 4k damage over 2 salvos and died when i was on 30k hp... is there any chance a rebuff in future patches or is that it and the german ships are gonna be rediculas to play with from now on?

Keep playing her some more, you will find the disadvantages she has, and you will definitely notice them if you have played the aboa or cleveland of course its not all bad of a ship.
IF they did buff her, lets just say. I think I small increase in her hitpoints and maybe shrinking her citadel, because the citadel is HUGE. IT runs almost the entire length of the ship and with such weak armor it can be penetrated easily at almost any angle. Even if you try to turn and dodge shots the Nurnberg isnt all that maneuverable and if you dont have the turning module upgrade or the second hull even battleships will laugh at you.
Basically if you get hit by a single battleship round (Your a cruiser so bbs are slobbering over you ) theres an extreme high change your going to get citadel'd. And with your low hp one citadel from a bb can wipe out 50 percent of your hit points whether or not you angled or not.
If you check warshipstats.com you can see the nurnberg is scoring less damage than the other cruisers as well as having a considerably lower survival rate as expected.

So far I have 35 battles in the Nürnburg.
Not that many battles but I think enough to draw a general opinion on the ship.
So we begin... the mighty NERFEDBERG!
After using the Königsberg, (which is an alright ship) I unlocked the Nurnburg and not to much surprise its pretty much a reskin of the Königsberg.
Expect you will be seeing Tier 7-8 ships in roughly 80-90 percent of your games.
Overall HE as we all know on the german ships is useless.
But we got high dmg ap right!
Yes and no, against cruisers at under 13km giving broadside sure you can citadel
Otherwise its useless to.
You can do serious dmg to BBs at close range but that brings me to my next point.
The armor and hit points.
The armor is so weak even a DD can pen your citadel (AND the citadel runs almost the entire length of the ship).
It's only 50mm thick.
It's hitpoints with the stock hull is 23k and you will see t8 ships!
So no armor, medicore guns, what about its long range man?
Well while in tier 6-5 games the range is just fine since you see t7-8 so often you have just as much range as other cruisers, and of course are outranged by BBs.
You often can't get closer to engage because of the weak armor and huge citadel, and angling doesn't help due to the armor being so thin...
So speed and turning? Both crap as well.
The speed is quite average and slower than Jap and US cruisers, and it's turning is worse.
Not even going to talk about AA and rudder shift.
Overall this ship is lacking I'd like to see some love for this german cruiser and all the german cruisers in general.
Before you show me your awesome games in this ship and tell me I'm wrong let me tell you that It hasn't all been bumpy sailing this ship but its certainly painful and I can't wait to get rid of her!
