I am extremely disappointed in all of the popular CC's.  I haven't seen a single "how to play against CV's" video, and the CV rework was months ago.  There are plenty of people in this game who don't know the basics of countering CV's, and no one is trying to teach them.

I watched that and am thoroughly confused.  What is making him upset?  He gets focused for about 8 mins, survives despite pushing way too far forward, and has a pretty good game overall.  It looks like a fun game to me.
It's like if I got hugely frustrated if a BB kept firing at me.  That's just the game, sometimes people target you.
    It's such a bizarre video.

That's because that's just iChase's feelings, and you can't counter someone's feels. He is basically saying "this is wrong because I don't like it". How do you counter that?
There are plenty of things that suck in WoWs. Being HE spammed from long range in a BB sucks. Being stalked by invisible DDs with torpedoes sucks. Being stealth radared in a DD sucks. A lot of things suck, but we have to suck it up and learn to adapt.
Remember that WG made CVs this way for a reason. They want to have shorter games so they make it harder for ships to escape. CVs were made to hunt down stragglers and/or fleeing ships.
If iChase doesn't like that, then that is fine, and he should give feedback to WG. But he doesn't need to whinge on his videos. How does his whining help me as player? How does that help my anti-CV play or my Russian BBs? I don't need iChase to tell me that being focused sucks because I already know that. So what is the purpose of that video?
Personally, I don't mind being focused, because if I am, it means I probably did something to deserve it. Besides, if the enemy CV is focusing me above all else, then it means the rest of my team are not dealing with that CV, so they can make all the plays they want.
Sure I am nowhere as famous as iChase which is why I don't get focused, but if iChase doesn't like the attention, then he should consider giving up his CC status or use some dummy account. Don't stand in the spotlight if you can't take the heat.
I am just surprised he is complaining about being focused when that is not a new thing. I thought he would have gotten used to it a long time ago. Guess I was wrong.
I am not too sure about that. When the rework was revealed plenty of people were cheering that CVs won't be able to delete them anymore.
Beware of what you wish for I guess...

I'd reserve judgement. We had CV's in a 7 vs 7 format for the King of the Tasman tournament and it was in no way a deal breaker. In fact, I think it made the gameplay far more interesting.

That was tier 8 however, it may be different at tier 10.

Making a ship like that has 380mm guns into a cruiser seems a bit odd.  The armour isn't too awful to be a BB either.  What exactly makes it a cruiser?
Not that I'm saying it's not an O-class - it certainly looks exactly like one.

Eh, the game has stopped being rock-paper-scissors since a long time ago. And now you have HE spamming cruisers like the Henri burning down BBs slowly but surely at long range, or IFHE gunboat DDs gunning down cruisers. Plus people seem to have forgotten that in the absence of CVs, the only real counter to DDs were either radar cruisers or another DD. Before the CV rework there were plenty of people asking WG to balance the amount of radar on each team and to balance DD MM - because whichever team lost their DDs first usually ended up losing the game.
And BBs have always been the easiest, most forgiving ship in the game. It comes with having the most HP, the most armour, the longest range, the hardest hitting guns and a heal.
Yeah I have seen your Reddit posts and I admire your ... dedication.
Much of Reddit is just an anti-CV circle-jerk/echo-chamber now. Even Sub_Octavian implied as much in a recent Q&A.

Moggytwo got a reaction from Thyaliad in Never an easier time to play BB
The game hasn't been like this since closed beta.  DD's also haven't countered BB's in general play for a very long time.  BB's are the easiest class to play, and are very forgiving, but this isn't necessarily a bad thing.  It's nice to have a low stress class like BB to play when you don't want to think that much, and it's good for the game to have a class that is a bit easier for new players to learn in.
I can 100% guarantee you that you're in the wrong position.  This simply does not happen if you position correctly.
I just wrote up a (heavily downvoted on reddit!) comment on how best to play BB's so as to minimise damage taken from CV's.  I'll put it here if anyone is interested:
Firstly, if you're alone, you can slow down the damage through proper AA use and maneuvering, but it's only a matter of time before the CV kills you if they choose to focus you. You can go a long way to winning the game in this situation by making them take as long as possible to kill you though.
Obviously being alone is not a good thing. So firstly, have a friend or two with which you can share AA cover. This will do a couple of things - it will make multiple strikes from the same squadron unlikely, and it will also make you an unattractive target, so the CV may decide you're not worth it at all. A CV is constantly assessing what is the most important target in terms of winning the game, and what is the target they will most easily be able to damage.
Avoiding multiple strikes is key. This is what AA is good for. You won't be able to stop the first attack unless you're stacked with most of the team (don't be stacked with most of the team or you'll lose), but good or stacked AA will make multiple strikes either ineffective or costly or both. As a BB you can make the first strike relatively ineffective, but follow up strikes will be difficult to avoid and this is where the damage will come. So by turning into the attack you can reduce the initial strike damage by a huge amount, however you won't be able to change direction fast enough in a BB to avoid taking the whole second wave if the CV is competent. This is where the AA will save you though, providing you have friends.
Another couple of things to note. AA sectoring helps a lot, but BB's have a very long sector swap time, so you need to change sectors very early. The idea should be that the sectors change right as the planes pass over you. For a BB, that means changing the sectors when the planes are about 5-6km out on their attack run. If you wait till they pass over you, you're completely wasting your time. Also, fighters are extremely effective. How fighters function is that they will kill the same number of planes in the attacking squadron as there are fighters. There are ways for the CV to minimise their effects, but once the fighters have latched on the squadron is pretty much unusable unless you're in a very high speed CV like the GZ. So fighters won't stop the first wave, but they will stop the waves after that. We've already discussed how follow up waves are the really bad ones provided you turn into the first attack. Fighters will often prevent you being attacked entirely just through their presence, or sometimes the CV will drop all waves except the last one into the ocean and just give you a one wave attack.
So just like angling, movement, and map position will minimise damage from enemy main battery hits (but not completely negate damage taken), there are actually lots of things you can do to minimise damage taken from CV's as well. Unfortunately there is little information out there as to how best to do this - I have no idea why the higher profile CC's haven't put out guides to this very thing, as there are lots of very simple things that each class can do to minimise damage taken from CV's, but many people are unaware of what these things are.

The primary function of the karma system is to make the person doing the reporting feel better.  It's basically a salt reduction system.  In this way, the 'play poorly' selection is clearly necessary.

Y'all, complain about too many CV, too oppressive, DD can't do their job, too passive, no team work, AA don't shoot down planes, no counter play, yada yada.
Here is my DD replay in 3 CV MM, tell me. Am I passive? Am I aggressive? Am I reckless yolo? Am I not stealth? Am I doing DD's job? Am I herding? stay together ... like  sheep... tell me ...
Am I just free damage farming or Did I provide AA and protecting ally?
The game has been evolved to became even more tactical than ever, probably too tactical that exceeded many player's capacity.

I cant understand why you like the old -meta so much. As for me, the new meta make the game more dynamic and more engaging to play. Of course it's frustrating to fight against Cv but that doesn't mean you do the camping tactic anymore. The old-meta have this mentality that CV is the dominants if the team got unicum CV players and for the sake of "your old meta", CV can one shot or make your life miserable for the rest of the game if you : 1 Over-hugging islands 2 No support
The new rework is an improvement to the static strategy where you think with DFAA you can hold out long enough ? I think not because if for tactical reason, a unicum CV players still go after you even with your DFAA. The tactical aspect may or may not fit you and your "island-hugging" that called tactic for new meta because now and then, WG now eliminated stealth and static gameplay long ago.
So either you adapt this tactic, and let me remind you this, there a line between LEMMING TRAIN and TACTICAL POSITIONING  than going alone and died then blame the game for not sufficient tactical enough.
For me, play the Des meme more fun than ever, no tactical camping when your team kept yelling they want this they want that and i'm having fun baiting CV to throw at me everything they got.

As others have said you were positioned poorly. It can be hard to work out what to do in the new meta if you haven't played CV's before.
There is one thing that CV's counter more than anything else - static ships. If you are stationary or moving slowly then you are easy pickings.
So bow tanking BB's, and island humping cruisers are very vulnerable to CV attacks. This is a good thing though, because those habits create a stale and static meta that we had too much of pre-rework. If you keep moving, and you maneuver while while under air attack, you will take far less damage from CV's, and if you position correctly you will be in a better position to help your team as well.
The new meta of small mobile groups of 2-4 ships is a far more dynamic one than the previous meta, and is a great improvement for the game.

Moggytwo reacted to sunlo2013 in the paradox of playing CVs
People think AA blobs or AA doesn't work, because:
1, they use all sector plus DFAA and can not shoot down as many plane as they would expect.
    2. they don't play CV. So they didn't know that, even not many plane got shot down but the whole squadron became crippled. They will not be able to follow up attack. That will affect efficiency of plane use.
It is combination of perception and ignorance, I would say.
Usually a competent players in CV as well as surface ship would not say this kind of nonsense.

Moggytwo got a reaction from dieselhead in Pobeda. why this thing exist?
They based it on gun calibre, completely independent of ship class.  If I recall correctly, it was 280mm and up that was affected.  So that means all of the Large Cruisers (I think that's what WG have decided to call them), including Graf Spee.
On a more positive note for Stalingrad players, if you have a Khaba or Harugumo on the opposing team, they should be target priority number one to hit with AP, because you'll get to relive the short heyday of the Stalingrad as you crush them out of existence!

Fire duration increase, as part of a global change for all light cruisers.  Since it's so well protected against AP when bow in, fire damage was it's main weakness, and it got a 33% fire duration increase.
The BB AP to DD's change affected Stalingrad more than any other ship.  It actually had the best anti-DD AP in the game prior to this change, it was one of the main strengths of the ship, and the thing that really pushed it into OP territory.  The superb dispersion, extremely short shell flight times, improved pen angles, short fuses, and most of all reduced shell arming distance made for a perfect storm of DD blapping.  Now it can only overpen, which is a huge nerf in it's ability to win games for the team.
Plus of course the CV rework - CV's counter a number of things particularly well, and very high on that list are static bow tanking ships.  I'm sure we're all upset that the highly skilled play style of sitting bow on at the back while slowly going back and forward is less viable now.
All these changes were actually global changes, but they affected Stalingrad far more so than most other ships.

Moggytwo got a reaction from Thyaliad in Total plane reserves of each tech tree CV (from Reddit)
MM is fair over time - take a large group of battles, the skill will be perfectly averaged between the teams over that time, except for you pushing that average up or down depending on your own skill.
For each individual battle - I think it's absolutely fine if the teams have uneven skill levels, that doesn't mean they are guaranteed to win, and playing against better players than you is a good thing.  If you get outplayed, you get to reflect on how that happened and improve yourself.
Skill based MM is never going to happen in this game, and that's a good thing.

Win rate is the only metric.  Everything else just illuminates the reason for the win rate.  WTR is based on win rate, damage done, and kills, and weighted mostly to win rate.  Damage done and kills are correlated with success, but there are plenty of things that win games that don't involve doing damage or getting killing blows.
The point of the game is to win.  Everything you do is towards that end.  Over a large selection of battles, the rest of the players in both team will tend to 50%.  This means the only thing changing your win rate from that 50% is your own ability to change the game either in your team's favour or against it.  The more capable you are of changing the result to a win in your team's favour, the higher your win rate will be, and the less capable you are, the lower it will be.
Win rate is the only stat that really matters.  The only provisos on that are average tier needs to be taken into account - it is much easier to carry at tiers 3-5, and div win rate does not correlate properly with personal skill as the other div members pollute the data.  Solo win rate is what should be looked at.

Slava and Azuma accuracy is quite similar, they cross over at about 19km (which is Azuma max range), with Slava being more accurate above that.  They really are not comparable though, because Azuma's AP is pretty awful, and Slava has the best AP in the game.  Azuma is mostly used with HE at range, and HE accuracy is a lot less of an issue than AP accuracy.
Plus as you mentioned, the survivability is completely different.  Having said that, you could put those guns on a Minotaur hull and it would still be OP.  A good player will crush with guns with that accuracy, pen, velocity, and air drag.
Nerfing the survivability of Slava and leaving the guns as is would be like if you had a DD with radar that was making it OP in a competitive environment, so instead of nerfing or removing the radar, you nerfed the gun and torp reload.  It would clearly be absurd, there's no way something like that would happen...
